"The Master's program at Milano, The New School has professors that actually work in the non-profit world. They had out practical lessons as well as the theory. You will learn a lot but the price tag is very steep."

"Try to get as many scholarships as possible. Do one's research. Attempt to do a dual degree."

"The New School of Architecture is a great place to learn. They are also very connected with the community making it easy to transition from school to the work force. They are also one of only 14 schools selected to have the IPAL program started which gives student the opportunity to graduate with your license."

"Choosing The New School was the best decision I've made to date. The instruction I received from professors and the real world approach to coursework is what made my transition into my career seamless. This is not a school for someone who wants the traditional college experience. It's better and bigger than that because you're campus is New York City and the school makes sure you're immersed in that as well as the classes."

"The biggest cons are the lack of funding and teaching opportunities for MA students. The quality of the faculty, fellow students and access to information are all top-notch. The university prides itself on creating a welcoming space for international students, and thus the campus is very diverse, allowing for a multitude of perspectives to come through."

"The New School for Social Research costs a fortune, and provides an excellent education. However, you have to do the work of contacting people, asking for opportunities, and networking. The resources are too limited and the competition to too palpable. So only go here if you're prepared to seek opportunities rather than simply capitalizing them when they appear."

"The Urban Policy Analysis program at The New School is a wonderful program that has provided me with the foundation to exceed in the policy field. I am more than halfway through my first semester and can say with confidence that I am beyond impressed with the curriculum and experiential aspects of the program. It has reinforced my interest in policy and I am extremely excited for policy lab next semester where I will have the opportunity to work with actual clients."

"The Pros include being in the heart of innovation and networks, New York City. Being in New York gives me access to major corporations in almost every field, and access to a major network. Some of the other pros include professors that are leaders in the field and have real practical experience. All of our classes are based around practical application. Some of the cons include, The New School does not carry the same name recognition as some other universities in the city."

"The Faculty (as well as the more advanced students) are incredibly accessible, which makes for stimulating discussions and an inspiring learning environment. I've never before experienced such a tight knit academic community as I have at the Economics department of The New School. What's more, the courses cover a diverse set of schools of thought. This allows for a lot of flexibility and I feel that it widens the horizons of both students and professors. I would recommend this department for anyone interested in non-mainstream economics training. This despite the school's lack of adequate financial aid."

"The New School for Public Engagement MFA program is incredibly stimulating because of its location, faculty and support staff. I have never seen such a nurturing network of smart, industrial producers. If there is any downside to the school it would be that you could be easily distracted with all of the resources, including fascinating faculty members and internship offerings."

"Very excited to be a member of the New School community. The faculty is top-notch and the availability of support is overwhelming. The only trouble is the cost of the school - and while they offer merit-based scholarships from the individual departments, tuition and living expenses are still rather significant, leaving many looking for other means of support."

"The pros of my graduate program are that it provides an excellent opportunity to delve into the theoretical and qualitative elements of social research. The program consists a highly efficient department of faculty specializing particularly in the various facets of historical and political sociology. The cons of my graduate programs are that it lacks academic diversity despite providing ample interdisciplinary courses, seminars, and gatherings. Moreover, the program provides very few financial support mechanisms towards the graduate students which is why I was forced to pursue PhD elsewhere."

"The program is definitely worthwhile. The faculty is completely approachable and they do a fantastic job of creating a collaborative work environment. The connections that can be made are outstanding and the faculty is really there to support the students and set them up for success. The only downside is the cost of tuition. Of course all grad programs will be a significant investment but I know it will be worth it in the long run."
