"This is a great program that sets you up with real world experience. What you learn is relevant to the work you'll be doing. If you can manage the cost of living/attending then it's a great choice."

"The pros of Mannes are that they have excellent faculty who are very knowledgeable, talented and distinguished. The education given is very competitive with the best schools in New York. The cons are that it is extremely expensive and financial aid is scarce. The administration is not helpful, condescending and often unavailable to students. The facilities and resources they offer leave much to be desired. The student population is unfriendly and very competitive. Overall, I would never attend this school unless I was given a full ride."

"Great environment, though "boot camp" program is mandatory for the Design & Technology MFA. Look forward to getting yourself drilled in design and coding in order to arm yourself with the skills to make something of yourself."

"I am very fortunate to have been accepted into the psychology masters program, and subsequently the doctoral program, at The New School for Social Research. For the last two years, I have been under the advisement of a wonderful and supportive advisor, Dr. K. This program has many good qualities. It allows for multiple career and research opportunities in a highly intellectual environment. My fellow students are from different ethnic and national backgrounds, giving me the opportunity to get a sense of what other cultures are like. The program holds weekly guest lectures from established scholars from around the world. The faculty and nature of the program encourage all different kinds of scientific investigations and research topics. The only disadvantage to this program is the lack of sufficient funding. Students certainly have to work harder to get financial aid and grants. Overall, I have had a great experience at NSSR and am excited to start the doctoral program in August!"

"The graduate program for performance is one of the finest in New York City and the country. The faculty is second to none and leave the student prepared for the tough career ahead of them. I am proud and lucky to attend such an amazing institution."

"Classes have not begun yet, but from interacting with the faculty and current students I believe that the program will mostly be what you make it. It is very non-traditional and while it might be hard to find your bearings at first, it is much more rewarding once you do."

"I am thrilled with the quality of classes, professors, and student body at the New School. I am getting a well-rounded education, and feel challenged every day. Being in New York City keeps me motivated to learn from my peers and stay involved in the international community. The only con of living in NYC is the high cost of living - rent in Manhattan is the highest in the country, and it is rare to find an entry level job that can sustain a comfortable lifestyle."

"Graduate Architecture program requires huge input after class hours & dedication. You can forget about social life if you take up architecture, and be prepared to mount a huge expense in tuition fees and stationary & supplies. Studying at a renowned institution helps you make the right connections within the industry and also forms a strong foundation of understanding concepts of architecture and research topics."

"It is a flexible graduate program, with a good offer of courses in the fields of film, video art and the social media. It welcomes students in a prestigious community of contemporary thinkers and trend-setters in their fields of activity. If you know how to make use of the courses on offer, it can be a very good professional and educational asset. On the other side, for those who aren't certain of their goals and professional orientation, the vast array of courses on offer could be confusing and distracting."

"This is could be right or the wrong place for you. Think it through. You will have a great time at the New School, will learn a lot too, but the school is very different than your typical social sciences department in the US. If you come for the right reasons then you won't regret it."

"The Graduate Economics program at the New School for Social Research is excellent on many levels. It builds on a distinguished academic tradition of American and European scholars going back to the early 20th century. It is one of the most open-minded economics departments with regards to schools of thought, and students learn about a variety of thinkers. There is inter-disciplinary contact between departments, and students are encouraged to tackle real-world problems rather than simply build neat models. The only issue with this school is the size of the faculty - currently small but hopefully increasing soon. Great place to study economics overall!"

"I wish there were more equipment resources for students to use. As an art student, many projects require equipment from different disciplines -- however, some are not available to students outside of different programs. There should be more options for students to use resources outside their program, given that they have received training. Also, financial aid is very scarce. However, the network is incredible and job opportunities are plenty, which is very important as a graduate student. The programs are very open-ended, so be prepared to explore many disciplines and techniques that you may have not had access to before."
