"UCLA is an amazing institution, not only for its academic excellence, but the quality of people who attend. The campus has unparalleled beauty, combining the awe inspiring architecture of Ivy league schools with the background of Southern California weather. There's always something going on on campus, whether it's a social event put on by the Student Alumni Association or one of the other hundreds of student groups, or an academic talk being given by a world renowned speaker, UCLA offers all you could ever hope for in a college, and more. Even though it's a public school, there is an unique sense of pride among alumni, and we all do what we can when we can to support fellow Bruins."

"Studying at UCLA was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my entire life. Not only did I get a world class education (I studied English literature, French, LGBT studies, and music history), but there were always a ton of amazing things to do and experience within campus limits, and especially further out in the city of Los Angeles. I became an active member in the Office of Residential Life, befriended band members and theatre actors, watched movie premieres in Westwood, cheered on Sara Bareilles and Maroon 5 at Spring Sing, and made lifetime friendships with people I still spend holidays with today. If you have a lust for life and an urge for knowledge, there is no better place than UCLA."

"College experience was excellent. Psych major was a bit too clinical for my taste. I also minored in Political Science and Education. Both minors I enjoyed. UCLA is an excellent school and if I had to do it again, I would again choose UCLA. Good luck!"

"You can't go wrong with choosing this university. This school has it all: academics, athletics, diversity, entertainment, beautiful campus, and more. I have made lifelong friends and a respected degree that has opened many doors for me. If you are still undecided, please go on a campus visit. Go Bruins!"

"The English Language and Literature program at UCLA will prepare anyone desiring to head upwards toward post graduate degrees, like, Law, Education, Media and other study-intense pursuits. I finished the program with a 2.1 GPA (2.8 overall). Yet, I felt that the program lifted me intellectually. In this program, they have designed it to make you think. And a lot of the program's philosophies follow along the lines of rigor and organization. Even though I felt, at times, that I should have gone into another course of study, I am glad that I completed this program. It has given me much freedom to pursue a wide variety of job opportunities. I highy recommend this program for anyone wanting a true collegiate education that offers your future a diversity and depth of career and life choices."

"UCLA is a very diversified community wherein you can pursue your interests. You can expose yourself to various fields of study to help you narrow on an area of concentration as well as broaden your horizons into new dimensions. The broad range of students will enhance the experience. Great sports and cultural programs and a wonderful campus as well. After 4 years in liberal arts, I moved on to the MBA program to complete my studies. Not to mention all this done in a top 12 undergraduate university and top 10 business program."

"What makes UCLA unique as an institution of higher learning is that it doesn't just prepare you for a career, it actually prepares you for a lifetime of learning. Sure, UCLA has many majors and schools of interest, as do many great colleges and universities. But few universities prepare you to deal with the macrocosm of life, business, and practicality as does this university. Regardless of major or program, you are competing against some of the best students in the country (and world!); learning valuable life lessons like problem-solving (how do I get from campus to my P/T job and back), to time management. The successful UCLA student graduates with a mastery of these skills, and many others, as well as an appreciation of what it takes to balance educational attainment with real life/work balance. In addition, those same students that you compete against in the lower level "weeder" classes are also going thru the same experience, sharing the same trials, tribulations, pitfalls and achievement ... and soon enough, some of them will become your lifelong friends. Some of my closest friends now are people I met while we were students at UCLA. Lastly, the microcosm that is UCLA is perfectly set against the megalopolis that is Los Angeles. You have all the opportunities to explore the world within one of the greatest cities in the nation: arts, entertainment, sports, outdoor activities... it's all there for the taking. Make the most of your experience - remember to focus on classes, enjoy the sights, and get a world-class education that is second to none."

"I started college very young & unsure of myself. I was only 16. I had a vague idea that I wanted to be a teacher. I became an adult while I was at UCLA. Many of my classes were large but most of the professors were available to meet with me when I needed support. I made friends that I still have all these years later. And, yes, I became a teacher and an administrator."

"UCLA is an affordable (for in-state residents) ad internationally recognized institution. It is located in a beautiful and safe section of Los Angeles. Those who are not accustomed to the quarter system will be in for a shock. 10-week quarters fly by quickly, so this is a major adjustment."

"The graduate music program at the University of California, Los Angeles brings together world-class faculty who are major performers in their field and this provides much opportunity for networking and surprising opportunities. However, the student population is not very diverse and lacks adequate resources for gay and lesbian students."

"UCLA provides access to many resources and experts for students. In the College of Letters and Science, I had many engaging professors that made the academic experience memorable. In addition, UCLA provides the following: - extensive alumni network, - many clubs and extracurricular activities, and - numerous internship possibilities in diverse areas of work and study. Caution: The lectures in my major had many students, so students had to put in effort to meet the professors and graduate assistants."

"As a social justice educator it is my responsibility to build on the cultural capital of our students of color and make our lessons and curriculum relevant to their lives in order to help our students succeed. The Educational Leadership Program at UCLA would provide me with the resources, network, and current research to further my work. By participating in the Educational Leadership Program at UCLA I would be privileged to work with knowledgeable professors to further expand the research of effective learning environments. In essence, I want all teachers to know that although a students’ upbringing definitely affects their experiences, a solid and effective education can still be provided. Nevertheless, one of the drawbacks with this program is the cost, for being a public school tuition is about $23,000."

"I am glad to be a UCLA student, teacher are real experts in their field, and if tuition fees are non negligible, there are many ways to reduce them for graduate students (TAship for exemple)"

"My program exhibits us with broad knowledge and critical thinking. Our department give us the financial aid with the TA-ship. In addition, our program give us a lot of information about upcoming seminars so that we can learn more actively by attending the topics that we are interested in. However, for international students, the income from teaching hardly afford our tuition. And the identification of international student makes it really hard to have a fellowship. It would be nice if our school can provide more fellowship to encourage the achievement of international students."

"The pros at UCLA School of Dentistry is the interconnectedness of the various departments. For instance, didactically we are taught be experts in the field. Our Gross Anatomy is taught by PhD scientists in Anatomy and foundational science courses taught by researchers who are currently researching the material being taught. There are many opportunities to become involved in research or in any of the various aspects of dentistry. That said, because there are so many options and so many teachers from different departments, the expectations can sometimes be ethereal and nebulous and you may feel as if, at the end of the day, you are teaching yourself. If you like clear, well-defined goals, this is probably not the place for you. If you are a self-starter and are excited at endless possibilities and a myriad of resources, UCLA SOD is awesome."
