"The UChicago program is challenging but completely worth it. Come here if you are a serious student - do not be focused on whether Hyde Park is a fun area (which it can be, but you won't have time) or whether you will have a great social life (you can if you want to, of course). Come here for the excellent (if often arrogant and busy) faculty, the wonderful and intelligent fellow students, and the late nights drinking coffee in the library. You will come out smarter, stronger, and very tired."

"The Harris School of Public Policy is considered one of the best schools of public policy around the word. Sometimes you have a lot of work, and it could be stressful but the most important is that you learn to solve a real issues of the society."

"Studying at Harris School of Public Policy is a great experience for me. It is challenging and at some times it can get stressful for all the amount of work you have to do. However, you learn a lot and are always surrounded by elite faculty."

"It's a great program. The city is a bit expensive, and Hyde Park is a bit isolated. But if you're willing to battle the math, Harris is amazing."

"Chicago is a great place if you're career driven, don't mind a slightly shady neighborhood, and don't care much for athletics."

"UChicago's scientific grad program is designed more for research than for education, and more for postdocs than grad students or undergrads. There are many good lab groups to choose from. But you won't get much out of the classes, and there isn't a good mentorship system. The qualifying exam system is also very bad--they have no problem failing tens of grad students at a time. Many people join a lab group, work for a few years, then leave and find a new one because their PI was bad, and there's no oversight. At least you have other options for lab groups, but if you wait too long to leave, you'll have real problems."

"Excellent research but the professors can be distant and aloof. If you can forge a close relationship with a mentor than your set, but I've found this much more difficult here than at other schools."

"University of Chicago is not for sports or fun. Academics gets primary priority. It is about students who can be serious, can work hard and know how to push through their graduate student career to place themselves at par with the very best. For those who can accept this, the campus brings a really vibrant community of intellectuals combined with state of the art libraries, easy access to well-funded cutting-edge research labs, helpful professors and opportunities for self-growth. All of these comes within 6 miles of the downtown Chicago for those who want city life."
