"I think the field placement under the MSW program has really helped me understand the field of Social Work better."

"My degree allowed me to pursue a career in city planning. In addition to our classroom studies, we were required to take four quarter of internships (paid or unpaid) to help gain experience in our field of study prior to graduating. This added one year to our studies so the undergraduate program was five years, not four. I believe the added internship experience gave me an edge competing against others for job interviews when I was a senior. i also felt it helped me find practical solutions in class projects which often dealt with problem solving in the real community situations. Internships exposed me to jobs in my field and I was confident when I graduated that city planning was what I wanted to do."

"UC's Graduate School does a great job of preparing you for your future. They have amazing career resources and networking events. Because I have taken the opportunities that they have provided, I definitely feel confident to enter the professional world. I am also confident that I will be successful in my career search. The only thing they could do better is the facilities are kind of old and need updated."

"Some of the professors were great and some were not. The experience at UC really depends on who you choose as an adviser. You also have to do a lot of independent research on grants, deadlines, and other pertinent information for the program. The campus is beautiful but the surrounding area is absolutely horrible, which results in a lot of crime alerts."

"Carl Linder Jr. College of Business is a national ranked program, which creates numerous opportunities for its graduates to achieve rewarding careers. The areas surrounding UC are being updated. The newer apartments are pricey, which actually, make the more charming units more affordable. There is plenty to do and the diversity of the student body and the denizens of the community could be liken to Queens, New York. With the UC Shuttle and the Queencity Metro, transportation and moving around campus and Cincinnati is very convenient. Although Cincinnati gets a bad rap for its crime, I found that the majority of the crime victims are those who are immersed in gangs and other illicit activities. I walk campus at night with no issue."

"Very competitive program. Very rigorous program which prepares you for the clinic. However, most of the faculty must be near the end of their careers. This is great for passing on experience, but sometimes a little deficient in their willingness to entertain new ideas."

"Tell us about your college experience.I loved my college experience and most of my classes and professors were perfect. It was not without stress though, because I went full time and I am a full time single mom. At times it was difficult to keep up my grades and my home life at the same time.Would you get the same degree if you could start over?I like my degree in Addictions, but I would also like a degree in Social Work and Women's Studies. What advice can you offer other students?Really think about what career you would like. It is really important to like what you do. It is also a good idea to find a career that will always be in demand to protect your job security."

"Tell us about your college experience.Great, I did what I cared about, but also had experience in my field prior to my unrelated degree that allowed me to succeed after graduation.Would you get the same degree if you could start over?Yes.What advice can you offer other students?Just get a degree. I was so limited before I finished, and wish I would have gotten a bachelors degree in anything much earlier."

  • Degree: Criminal Justice
"Tell us about your college experience. The school was okay. I should have followed my gut (which told me a degree in criminal justice was a waste of time). I feel like I was mislead by college and financial aid personnel. They painted a picture of plentiful jobs with high salaries. In reality I couldn't get an interview in the criminal justice field and ended up working as a bank teller and then at an insurance company. Thinking about the debt makes me sick to my stomach. What advice can you offer other students?I would only go to college if a degree was necessary to get a license or registration (ie teaching, medical professional). Anything else is a waste of money and time. I could have worked full-time instead of going to college and would have been promoted faster and not had the debt."

"Tell us about your college experience.I enjoyed my college experience and always thought of advancing my degree. However, I would say that as a woman attending classes that were sometimes in the evening, I did often feel unsafe. I think campus security could have been improved or, at least, more obvious to create a feeling of well-being.Would you get the same degree if you could start over?Yes, I think the degree is a practical one - I might slant it toward the medical field for tomorrow's world. What advice can you offer other students?Do what you love, but be practical too. If you can provide a service people need you'll always have work and the satisfaction that comes from that."

"The PharmD program at the University of Cincinnati is excellent. There is lots of support and enjoyment along the way. Financially, UC is cheaper than many other PharmD programs, which makes it very appealing. It is very competitiive to get in, which makes sense. They are a top rated program at an affordable price. I haven't regretted my choice to attend there. The environment around the pharmacy school building is wonderful too...there are 7 or more hospitals within a few blocks, the medical school is across the street, and the area is very nice and quite safe for a downtown area. If you want to be accepted into the PharmD program at UC, study hard and get the best grades possible."

"Pros- same teachers, same buildings Cons- repetitive classes, not as prepared as I thought, especially for licensure process, semi-weak assignments (I feel they could have been more out in the field, rather than in the books, considering the repetition of classes)"

"No communication whatsoever on how you are doing i your course. No help from anyone whatsoever. If you email them goodluck on a response. They took off points from my final grade on something that had nothing to do with my school work. It was due to a one day late email or so they say."

"The pros are that the Advising support team are always there when you need them. The cons are that there is an excessive amount of crime in the campus area. It is the nonstudent population which targets college students for assault and theft."
