"The program is great but it is very focused on theory so be prepared for that as you enter to get your degree."

"The ability to work full time while pursuing my master's degree was something that was difficult to find around the city. This master's program was designed to work around a full time working student. All classes are offered in the evenings once a week and the professors are extremely understanding of this struggle in juggling both the working and student world. The program is non thesis based so more classes are needed to be taking to compensate for this but it's a perfect fit for most full time employees. This new master's of Energy Engineering program offers an opportunity for one to further their studies without jeopardizing their jobs."

"This fine art program is very small and has a distinct culture. The faculty take the selection of graduate students very seriously and also the care and development once they are enrolled. The tight knit group leads to an environment that is competitve yet extremely supportive. Every student is provided a spacious studio space but there are limited resources compared to many more expensive private arts programs. Chicago is an amazing community that anything a student may need can be found in some manner off of the campus. The financial support has been very helpful and I believe that students that show enthusiasm, hard work and dedication to advancing their work and participating in teaching undergraduates will be assisted in any way possible. The faculty here is young and enthusiastic and are all very active artists nationally and internationally. Linked to the arts program is the art history program filled with incredible scholars also very active in their field."

"Safety can be an issue because it is Chicago. There are many transportation options and the university gives student a U-Pass to ride free (cost of the pass is included in tuition)."

"I began my studies at University of Illinois at Chicago enrolling in their School of Public Health. UIC is one of the top 20 institutions in the field of Public Health. They have quality instruction and and a vast diverse population of students who contribute a great deal with their life experience. I would highly recommend this program to anyone considering Pubic Health. Though I am still in school, I have no doubt I will walk away with a wealth of knowledge in the area of Public Health to be a success."

"UIC College of Medicine is a great place to study medicine. The class is very diverse and it boasts one of the highest graduation rates for underrepresented minorities. The college of medicine has been recently renovated with state of the art educational facilities, and has great recreational facilities. With Chicago as the backdrop there is never a lack of things to do."

"Pharm.D. program at University of Illinois is comprehensive. Three years are spent in a classroom and one year is spent on clerkships. The professors are invested in helping the students grow professionally. The surrounding area is not glamorous as it is not in a beautiful college town, but in a working professional medical district. Therefore, it is a great place to learn with great transportation. Areas for the purpose to relax and social network is not prevalent."

"Pros- University of Illinois at Chicago has many diverse students from all over the nation and international students enrolled. The campus offered many different programs that were challenging and fun for everyone. This is a school for commuters who live in the city, great location from highways make it a easy access for students to get here. New facilities are being constructed for housing so students can live closer to school. Cons- the faculty had many protest throughout the year while I attended."

It is so close to the city and accessible by car, train or bus. Equipment and classroom is expanding with technology and resources. Awesome support network from mentoring students and professors. Cons- Hard workload, a few professors are hard to follow but there is a great network of support to help with that struggle. Hard Neuroanatomy course."

"UIC, while lacking the inflated prestige of the University of Chicago and Northwestern, maintains the most diverse campus in metro Chicago. It is a privilege to work as a teaching assistant and take courses with stellar faculty."

"Great interactive program which is condensed to allow quick and efficient education which produces well qualified and educated occupational therapists. More university amenities could be placed on the medical campus to allow an overall better student experience."

  • Degree: Nutrition
"The pros to my graduate program are that it has been rated a top nutrition program in the nation, it is a coordinated nutrition program (I can do the coursework and internship in one program), the faculty are very knowledgeable, the school is located near numerous hospitals and clinics, and the RD exam pass rate for students of the program is high. The cons to my graduate program are the lack of funding, assistant-ships, and scholarships for students, graduate courses are only offered alternating years, and the tuition price is expensive for out-of-state students."

"Pros: UIC college of Medicine is a great institution which combined both clinical and basic sciences throughout the course of the medical career. The student body is diverse and students are fortunate to help underserved communities. Cons: The area surrounding the medical school can at times feel unsafe, there are several crime alerts during a weeks period associated with robberies. The office of student affairs at times is not as helpful for students in need."
