"I attended KU in the 1980s, and was quite pleased with the school. Professors were excellent, There were many diverse classes, and I learned much. What I found most interesting was that I was not limited to one area of study. My major was Human Development. But I had classes in the History of the Greeks and Romans, On the Geography of Human Survival, and a semester singing with the chorus despite not being especially musically inclined. I highly recommend the University of Kansas."

"I enjoyed my experience at the University of Kansas. Great faculty members and teachers who work everyday to create well-rounded students and citizens preparing to enter to the workforce. I would recommend KU to anyone who is looking for an excellent education, to maximize on opportunities, and a fantastic campus and school spirit. Also, you cannot beat KU basketball! They have prepared to enter graduate school for clinical psychology at the master's level. I feel confident in my future endeavors from my training here at KU!"

"I completed half of my graduate degree in the School of Education at the Edwards Campus in Overland Park, KS. I really liked student teaching and taking classes. I think they complemented each other very well. I wish I would have been more aware of financial aid opportunities in addition to loans. I respected my professors and value what they taught me - I use it in my current job daily."

"I went to the University of Kansas for undergrad, so when I was thinking about going back to grad school, KU was my top choice. I am currently in the Master's in Public Administration program, and so far I love it. My professors are experienced and knowledgable of the topics they are teaching. Classes are offered at the Lawrence campus, and in the Edwards Campus in Overland Park, so they are convenient. I recommend this school and program."

"The curriculum is excellent and the classes are interesting. The professors have been challenging, knowledgeable, and provided really good feedback. I have learned a lot and feel very well prepared for a career in social work. Participation and collaboration with other students has also been helpful. The practicum has been a great experience and given me an on-the-job training that gives me a very good idea what working in social work will be like."

"The University of Kansas provided the opportunity for me to earn by Bachelors Degree in Finance. As a transfer student from a community college, I only attended two years (Fall 2009 - Spring 2011). The advisers helpful, and I was able to complete my degree on time. The multiple career fairs helped me to network with companies and practice interview/resume writing skills. I enjoyed my time at KU. After a couples years in the non-academic world, I am pursuing a second degree (MBA) through their online offering."

  • Degree: Education
"The University of Kansas offers a wide variety of degrees, areas of focus, and educational opportunities. Although their programs are diverse and widely accredited, the university is seriously lacking in a quality "bench" of educators. In my time at KU, I had a myriad of professors that came from different backgrounds academically and personally. They all had something unique to offer and typically created opportunities for success. On the other end of the spectrum were professors who were using their curriculum and lectures from when they started teaching in the 1970s or teachers who received degrees from online universities like the University of Phoenix. It was difficult to receive an education from these professors because they were generally not respected in their profession anymore. In my time at KU, my cadre in the school of education single handedly got two professors fired because of their incapability to teach a college level course. Because of the incompetent professors and constant turnover, we all felt like our education suffered tremendously. In regards to the social scene at KU, it is bar none. There is no better community than the Lawrence, Kansas community. People have a specific attitude that allows them to take themselves seriously and also enjoy a beer with a highly respected colleague on the famous (or infamous) Massachusetts Street. Kids, young adults, parents, and grandparents pack the streets of Lawrence on their bikes or walking. There is always a friendly face to greet you anywhere you go. On campus and in town there is always a social gathering welcoming anyone who wants to be part of their community. The bar scene if for adults of any generation making the traditions at KU more charming than it's fellow universities."

"There was a good mix of career professors to career engineers who taught a class in their free time. Professors are always willing to make time to meet with you. Class sizes are small for major specific courses. Campus is spread out nicely to allow for green space and nature."

"Be very careful entering this department. A lot of internal problems amongst faculty. Do not expect any support from the faculty chair if you have a grievance. Be wary of choosing an advisor. Make sure they have a solid tract record of graduating students, not just a random one or two. Also be sure they have grants and have funding for graduate students. If they promise you anything, get it in writing. Be care of untenured faculty, they will float you down the river for their own ambitions. If you are considering KU for anthropology, try searching and applying to other programs first before committing here"

"KU is a great place to call home and everyone around you feels like family! Students come from a wide variety of background and experiences, and professors have so many interests and specialties. There are so many resources all around you that help in your school work as well as personal life so that you really feel like you belong. It is an affordable school with great academics, pushing you to do your best but not overwhelming you. I would recommend this school to all aspiring students, and I will look back onto my years here fondly and lovingly. Rock Chalk!"

"Some select professors were great. And the basketball scene is extremely fun if you're a sports fan. My complaints are that I felt the professors weren't held to a high standard as far as keeping up their curriculum to the advancements in the modern day world and technologies, which made it hard to go to them for guidance."

"I think KU is a phenomenal school. Students are very friendly. Professors are knowledgeable and available. Campus is beautiful and everything is conveniently located (doesn't take long to get anywhere or find what you're looking for). Enrollment and admissions office is helpful for figuring out what classes you still need to take and where you're at in your degree. Student activities and organizations aren't the easiest to find or be a part of but with some research you can find what you're looking for. If you want to be a part of Greek life there are plenty of options because it's everywhere. Parking options are terrible, however. You have to but a pass to park anywhere on or near campus during the day and the passes are expensive. Tuition itself is a bit expensive as well compared to other in state schools I looked at before attending."

"I have supportive faculty in the school but the research is not very intensive and very few faculty have funding. Very few students are funded and those who are funded are also funded only for a year and its discontinued. Thats how it goes and it is very disturbing for student like me who cannot afford paying their tuition fee."

"I am very happy to be KU. As anywhere, some professors are more accessible than others. But I have had no trouble receiving the support I need from the department. The mentoring and professional development have been good. As with most things in life, the school is what you make of it."
