"Top school in the state for this program Cost of living isn't cheap, but it's a lot better than major metro areas such as Chicago or Atlanta Very few scholarships available"

"Wonderful faculty who exhibit a genuine interest in your success. Cons: cademic rigor could improve and parking is horrendous. Overall, a great experience."

"I love the social work graduate program at UK. I'm learning a lot of material that will assist me later on in my career and also making fabulous connections."

"The pros definitely outweigh the cons at University of Kentucky. The teachers are excellent! Very down to earth, while very knowledgeable about the voice. I take voice from Dr. C, and she has been phenomenal! I feel like I have learned so much in my year with her. She is really is adamant about a free sound, that is anchored in the breath. The first lesson I had, involved Dr. C grabbing my stomach and asking me to breath into her fingers. You can imagine I had a hard time doing that. She has a way of explaining things to where it made sense and it's fun to sing again. There are so many teachers that like her, very willing to help and supportive. Also, the students are pretty awesome. It is not a cut-throat competitive as say Cincinnati Conservatory, but more nurturing. Everyone is rooting for you and there is little pettiness. There are also a ton of performing opportunities in the area. Whether you get gigs at Kentucky Opera, or auditions in the Cincinnati area, or even travel to Chicago for auditions, there are plenty of performing opportunities on and off campus. Plus, there are plenty activities around University of Kentucky's campus, from Basketball to outreach programs. It is a well-rounded program and I would suggest anyone who is interested in looking at the graduate program to come and visit! You won't be disappointed!"

"The department is very supportive in the students aspirations and in their future goals. All professors are willing to work with you closely are will go out of their way to help support you. The quality and comitment of the professors is high, it is a competitive but friendly atmosphere. The only disadvantage to the program is lack of available funding, but the program is worth the money."

"Tuition is very high, even for in-state students- I believe this is one of the most expensive PharmD programs in the US. But the building is new (built 2009-2010) and is incredible. The faculty are very well-renown and leaders nationally in their respective fields. The coursework is challenging but not impossible, and colleagues serve as a great support group."

"My ratings are based on the distance learning program. I cannot rate things like campus life, transportation, surrounding area, and such due to not actually attending the campus. As for the academics and graduate program there are several co-workers that are currently enrolled in this program because it's level of competency and how well you are prepared for a career in Rehab Counseling."

"I am more overwhelmed than anticipated, however, I know this is the right career choice for me. There is no other degree I could see myself pursuing and I am determined to see this through. Because it is part of a distance learning program, some of the above questions did not pertain to my personal experience in this program. Earning this degree is very expensive and I need all the help I can get. I have no choice but to continue."

"The biology program provides ample financial support and opportunites to teach while completing research. The faculty are friendly and adequately funded to provide a great atmosphere. The students have several journal clubs to participate in within and outside of the department. Travel to conferences is supported by both the department and college so this leads to one free meeting per year."

"The UK Pol Sci program is excellent. The faculty are top notch, hard working, accessible, and professional. Lots of support for conference travel, assistantships, help with publishing, getting placed, etc. I received a top notch education and I am competitive on the job market."

"I received little to no support when my chair went on an unannounced sabbatical, leaving me in academic limbo for over a year and costing me a tenure track position elsewhere. The feedback I received throughout the research and writing process was difficult to get and not useful, yet I was berated for not using more suggestions during my defense. My chair's opinion of my work changed on a daily basis. She rescheduled my defense twice without consulting me; and worst of all, the edits I received to complete during my 60 revision period came 35 days into the revision period itself, despite all attempts I made to acquire the changes earlier. Unless you are interested in a "rebuilding" program and don't mind changing committee members regularly, enjoy lack of communication and support, I'd suggest going anywhere else"

"The masters program for social work at University of Kentucky has been excellent in providing excellent faculty that truly know the field of social work and challenge us in our studies. I have had excellent help from my instructors as well although being a distance learning student has made it sometimes a challenge to see them as much. I do feel that the curriculum provided has added to what I already use and given me a lot of opportunities with my current practicum site."

"UK is a great school in a beautiful city with a lot of Kentucky pride. However, after graduating undergrad from a small, liberal arts school, it is difficult to give much praise to the University of Kentucky. The quality of education I received at UK was subpar to that of Wittenberg University. This may be due to the abundance of opportunities that were available at Witt, small class sizes, professors with passion whose focus was on teaching the students, small community of peers and close social networks, and an emphasis on learning and growing intellectually through reading, writing, and speaking engagements and not multiple guess exams alone."

"I'm new to UK, but the professor I work for is a great guy. He tries to make sure all of his grad students (there are 6 of us) can get in touch with him, on top of his other responsibilities. He's the reason I'm here, and I'm very grateful for the opportunity. However, I haven't really had the time to explore the city or the rest of campus because of the layout of both of them."
