"I loved my classes and my teachers but wasn't thrilled with the social environment, however many people say they love it. If you are a Maryland resident UMD is a great school and you should definitely go there. If you are out of state, its not worth the tuition but if you get a good scholarship than I would suggest you also attend."

"The University of Maryland, College Park is a hub of every sort of learning with which a student could hope to engage. The campus has endless opportunity for innovation and intersection in study, as well as established programs whose names draw recognition and respect in the professional world. For those seeking a large and diverse university experience, Maryland is certainly the place for you, and for those who wish for a more intimate learning experience, customization and networking within any given department or program provides the perfect team feel while assuring wider access to resources."

"This is a wonderful school located just 20 minutes from the heart of Washington DC. Regardless of your major, there are plenty of resources to take advantage of to help you pursue your goals. This includes research facilities, professors, peers, and accessible databases. The student diversity on campus is one of my favorite characteristics about the school, which allows you to interact with and learn from students of all backgrounds. This includes different ethnicities, interests, and pursuits. I never thought I'd find a school that has the right balance of really everything, but Maryland was able to provide that exceptionally. I recommend this school to everyone and anyone."

"I am a first year PhD student at the University of Maryland. I received a full scholarship and a 20-hour paid Graduate Assistantship. Both my advisors are great as are their classes.  I find the 20-hour Graduate Assistantship workload very challenging, if I could win another scholarship I could afford to cut down my work hours from 20 to 10 which would allow me to take more classes and also have time to exercise and socialize. According to the Graduate School website "Graduate Assistants (GAs) are, first and foremost, graduate students pursuing an education", somehow the amount of responsibility in my Assistantship does not mesh with that statement. Organizing the curriculum, teaching and advising students, and grading their papers without a lot of support or direction takes precedent over my course work most of the time. Recently I had to sit an exam at 10:15pm as my work duties did not allow me to sit it earlier that day. Perhaps, if Graduate Assistants were allowed to unionize there would be more transparency, they would be able to seek advice and guidance, and know just how much is too much. Despite that I love teaching and now that I have organized the course and know the ropes I hope to continue doing the same job next year and hopefully by winning more scholarship funding it will be for 10-hours instead of 20 per week.Overall I am glad I made the decision to do a PhD and feel so honored that the University of Maryland gave me the opportunity to study for it by giving me a scholarship and to earn and gain experience through the Graduate Assistantship program. I love my courses and even though I am only in my second semester I have gained an incredible amount of knowledge from the courses I have taken. If only money was not such an issue I would thoroughly enjoy the whole experience so much more."

"The atmosphere and diversity in University of Maryland College Park is one of the strong points of the institution. I am getting my masters' degree in Community Planning (Transportation track). I would like to say I have had both theory and practical based learning. This is due to the requirement of studio classes, required internships and having people from the field come talk to us on a regular basis. Coming to College Park will not be a choice of regret because there is so much to do and learn there. Seeing people and interacting with people from different background is also nice, you get to understand things from a different perspective and possibly apply it to your education."

"University of Maryland University College online staff are very interested in students succeeding in their class. The administration is very helpful at guiding students to the destination of need and providing courteous services. Everyone are always pleasant and will answer all of your questions and will direct you to the person who can if they are unable to answer your question. My education with UMUC has been a successful and pleasant experience."

"My school give financial aid to almost everybody. We are all paying less than 15% of the full cost. Moreover professors have a great professional experience since they provide research to the best institutions in the DC area. I really recommend it. Its only problem is that being an public school sometimes have bureaucratic issues."

"This school is great if you were a big fish in a small pond from your prior institution. It is a liberal playing ground so it will challenge you to see things from others perspectives both in and out of the classroom. There are so many clubs and organizations to join and you leave with incredible networking opportunities."

"The HESP major is a great program to prepare you for SLP/AuD graduate schools. The faculty is very eager to prepare you Overall, I loved my stay at UMD. Lots of great people, staff, professors, and campus groups. The diversity of campus was impressive, and refreshing. It's a huge campus filled with lots of students, but you'll find your niche."

"I am greatly appreciative of the education that I am receiving at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. The curriculum is extremely rigorous, and challenges critical thinking abilities, as well as abilities to work on a team and in inter-professional environments. There are copious opportunities for extracurricular involvement, not just in medical activities, but in research, in the arts, in public health. Baltimore is a unique city in that there are amazing opportunities to learn about socioeconomic determinants of healthcare and fully practice understanding those barriers to care and helping to prepare us to be better physicians. I wouldn't trade my education here for anything!"

"The university itself is amazing! There are many departments, recreation spots, events that are mostly free for students. However because the campus itself is so large, the classes reflect that. It is hard to get to know the professors. This usually isn't a problem later in the degree program because the classes get smaller and you are able to interact with professors in and out the class"

"The four years I spent University of Maryland were the best four years of my life thus far. I made strong and lasting relationships with friends and colleagues, and I met my future husband. I joined a sorority and was given opportunities to contribute to society, enhance my resume, make life long friends, and have a lot of fun. As a student in the Robert H. Smith School of Business I had the opportunity to network with future employers on a daily basis, I had access to top professors and a number of other resources that contributed to my success upon graduating."

"I recently completed my first semester at the University of Maryland in College Park and had an excellent experience. I am working on my Master of Public Health degree and have been very pleased by the warm and caring nature of the professors that I have had to this point and know that they want their students to succeed and are willing to make and take the time to help them individually. The students are also very accepting and take their studies seriously. In the classroom I have learned a lot in just my first semester and the previous knowledge that I had has been reinforced. I look forward to continuing my education at UMD in the upcoming semester."
