My experience at UMUC has been rewarding. The flexibility has allowed me to work on my graduate studies; while continuing to work on my first passion of being a good wife and mother.

Pro: As a new student to the program, I think that the support so far has been really good. There are opportunities to collaborate with other students and teach accessibility has been good. I also like the fact that it is self paced. Con: Miss the interactiveness of a classroom environment.

As an online college UMUC is great. They work with you and are in consistent contact with you. Advisors are readily available for questions and will work with you to help you with your goals. The cost of my program was higher than standard graduate classes. I am not sure why this is. In addition, while the content is adequate I have been a little disappointed with hands-on experience. There are virtual machines and labs for all the technical experience, but I felt like this was underutilized.

UMUC's graduate programs are structured in a way that doesn't overload a student. For example, the Cyber Security program I am enrolled in only allows me to take one six credit course per term. UMUC also has three terms within its school year (Fall, Spring & Summer) with flexible start dates in each term. You can take a course over the whole semester or in one of their 8-week online sessions. Great online interface and responsive faculty.

While theĀ online program seems to be more intense than the class room setting the curriculum is well thought out and satisfying. I have been able to apply the lessons learned in class to my work environment and look forward to taking my coursework further in my professional career. In addition to the convenience of online learning, is the expertise of the faculty most of which are working professionals in the areas they teach. I am glad I chose to pursue a graduate degree at UMUC.

Degree: Information Technology
Graduation Year: 2015

This is my first semester in the graduate program (I am taking a dual Masters degree in Digital Forensics & Cyber Investigations and an MBA) so it is a difficult to guage the workload and grad program value. I am basing my opinion on the course descriptions and the potential value of the dual masters in the aforementioned programs.

The graduate program is nice because if offers evening classes as well as online courses, perfect of the working professional. However, the online courses are very rigorous. You need to be very disciplined in order to take the online classes.
