The University of Mississippi Medical Center is definitely a professional school that will challenge you with a rigorous curriculum. However, the diversity at the university is unfortunately lacking. When I was a student there, there were only roughly 80 men of color enrolled out of the 2,000+ students. As an interest in going to medical school there, I was told by a pessimistic admissions counselor that I should consider another profession. The environment just didn't have the inclusiveness that the university likes to portray, and, through my experience there, I did not feel 'at home' even with it being located in a city where I have pretty much lived for my entire life.

Degree: Nursing
Graduation Year: 2015

UMMC is a very friendly, helpful, and rigorous program. The faculty are always available for any of your needs. The MSN in nursing education program was well-structured and has better prepared myself to be an educator in a school of nursing. I have made personal contacts with my instructors that I continuously discuss decisions towards my career. I would highly recommend this school to anyone interested.
