"The MSIA (MS in Informatics and Analytics) program at UNCG is a complete mess. I cannot recommend strongly enough that you avoid it. What became very obvious to me within my first two classes is that this program aggressively recruits international students (I was one of very few Americans in my cohort) for the purpose of raking in as much money as possible. They do not care about instructional quality or even if you graduate. This is purely a "credentialing" program. I learned more from DataCamp and ChatGPT then I did from any of the so-called core classes. And when I needed to take a class at an external university, it was like pulling teeth to get the program director to agree to let me transfer the credit in despite the fact that it clearly fell within the bounds of the graduate school policies AND it was a more rigorous curriculum than the one taught at UNCG. They market their capstone project as a core benefit of the program in getting hands-on analytics experience, but in reality there is no support to help students find mentors and the program has zero relationships with local businesses (which is a real shame considering their proximity to the Research Triangle). The only reason I was able to find a good placement for myself was because I have worked in academic science before and know how to navigate it. Even then, once my capstone work was under way, the program communicated rubrics and deadlines to students inappropriately late (in some cases after the deadline had already passed). I and other students were left off of the email meant to schedule our capstone presentations and were only made aware of it two weeks in advance. Overall, I could not have had a worse experience with this program, and I genuinely believe it was created with unethical motivations. I hope it is discontinued and no more students are ripped off, especially considering that the international students pay so much money and travel so far to be here. UNCG should be ashamed."

"Worst academic experience of my life. Previous degree in related field. Transferred in from another design school to finish this degree. Design majors need heavy software skills and projects for a portfolio. Almost all the work consists of writing papers. No design firm is paying you to write a paper after graduation unless you are in journalism or research. Very little software and hardware experience so I took classes at yet another school to learn that side. I was in groups with seniors who didnt know how to use Adobe software. Group projects are the norm. Your grade is based on other students work. This is not the norm for design students. After a couple semesters, am leaving for another school that says, 'We tried group projects one semester and won't do them again because it doesn't allow students to showcase their best work for potential employers.' Made phone calls and visits to competing schools in similar majors; sitting in on classes and presentations and was blown away by what they were learning and knew if I had to compete in the job market with them, I won't get the job. Teachers are uninterested in who you are and treated as a number. Lectures regurgitate chapters. Where is robust discussion? Exploratory projects? Students asleep during guest speaker visits and openly cheating during exams by hiding phones. Lots of class time is upselling other degrees, study abroad etc. Watered down and disappointing to say the least."

"Do your research. This school does everything BUT let you know of their policies until you are in a situation where that policy affects you. It took them a year to send me my degree because I was never told by anyone to email a specific department after my account hold was cleared to verify. This school does not support first year students whatsoever, they expect you to automatically know every little in and out of college as if you have been attending all of your life. They allowed me to re-take an early college course not realizing until I caught the mistake. If you want the best educational experience with a school that supports you as a student, this is not for you."

"Not academically rigorous or intellectually stimulating in the slightest. The professors are nice, but the information is a joke. Everything is shallow. I suppose some 7th graders might struggle with the material and some of the project assignments, but by 9th grade, most would be capable of getting a B. The monetary value is really good compared to other schools. But what you get out of it is significantly lower value. If you just need a diploma and don't care about potentially regressing your intellect, this is the school for you."

"Terrible school. Definitely do not waste the time or money. They claim to 'help' their students. They don't. The professors are unprepared for class, take forever to respond to your emails, and the classes are chaotic at best. Financial Aid office is rude. Online classes were a joke. They were at early hours in the day which conflict for those of us who work. Just, overall, a terrible school and horrible experience."

"- [ ] If you have any health problems, “physical” or “mental,” do NOT attend this school. UNCG will not be able to help you. One student felt ill and went to the Student Health Center. He was told to sleep it off. He died in his dorm of breathing complications from bronchitis. My friend reported hearing voices. The Health Center did not provide any assistance. My same friend struggled with addiction and begged for help. The Center did not help him at all. (My friend is now free from addiction but with absolutely no thanks to UNCG. UNCG did NOT even attempt to help). I myself was struggling with Bipolar Disorder. I went to the very misleadingly named “Students First Office” every day for a week crying and begging for help. I also went to the “Office of Accessibility and Resources and Services” almost every day the same week. I received no help and subsequently suffered a major manic-depressive episode that was horrific. If you value your health and happiness, do NOT attend UNCG."

"UNCG offered their art students a variety of courses to choose from and although at the time I was not interested in taking that variety, I am glad I was required to. In the end I completed drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, and ceramics classes, as well as art history courses. Through this multi-pronged approach, I was well-prepared for my MFA in Photography and confident in my career to respectfully speak my mind and foster collaboration and innovation."

"UNCG is such an amazing school! With so many opportunities with staff and administrators that are truly invested in the students. UNCG is also well connected in the Guilford County community which allows students to have access to jobs and other networks. UNCG also has faculty that do amazing work abroad and with collaboration with other schools. No matter what your major is, there are opportunities in your department to do so much more outside of the classroom. As someone who graduated from the school of social work, I have been able to study abroad in Malaysia, I was a research assistance, teaching assistant, AmeriCorps Member, and 2016 election fellow. All of these opportunities came from being at UNCG and I couldve done so much more if I wanted too! Not to mention the administrative processes of financial aid or registration. UNCG makes it so easy to navigate. The people there are truly there to support students while helping them focusing on their education. I was able to fund my education at UNCG mostly through grants and scholarships. UNCG also continually invests in themselves without giving the burden too much to the students. They are always renovating dorms and building new ones. Constructing new buildings and adding facilities all while tuition stayed pretty consistent. UNCG is also very diverse, as a person of color the last thing I wanted was to feel like other during my undergraduate experience. There is a group for everyone at UNCG and the sense of belonging is for everyone. I absolutely loved my experience there and Im proud to call myself an alumnus."

"I completed a majority of my degree online at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I felt that the coursework was challenging and the professors had very high expectations of students. I thought that the online classes were set up very well and easy to follow. I would recommend their online program to anyone. However, when it comes to dealing with any office on campus, good luck! I know that it has been a couple of years since I had to deal with any of with their on-campus staff, but they all seemed to be very disorganized and unkind. It was difficult to get responses to emails and professors were not understanding of the difficult circumstances I was going through outside of school. One example I can provide dates back to when I initially transferred from ASU to UNCG. I had questions about the credits for the Spanish classes I had taken at ASU because I wanted to minor in Spanish at UNCG. I felt as if I was pushed around from person to person trying to get the right answer, and when I was finally put in contact with the head of the Spanish department, she had hardly any information to give me. I was so fed up with the whole ordeal that I chose to not pursue a minor in Spanish just so I would not have to deal with the headache. I attended Appalachian State University my freshman year of undergraduate school and would recommend ASU before I would recommend UNCG"

"The campus of UNCG is very diverse. The university is beautiful and located relatively close to popular spots around town. All of the staff Ive encountered during my time there have been nothing less than knowledgeable and super helpful. The gym is beautiful lol and campus living is really good as well."

"UNCG was everything I could have asked for as a first-generation college student. I entered in on a full ride scholarship which supported me throughout. Coming from an extremely small high school, the thought of college was intimidating; the UNCG Guarantee Scholarship Program helped minimize these feelings by introducing us to a family of students from similar backgrounds. This program also provided wraparound support throughout my undergraduate journey, and I even worked as an Office Intern which opened the door for numerous opportunities. As a UNCG undergraduate, I was given the opportunity to study abroad in Mexico and Costa Rica. The exposure to different cultures vastly broadened my understanding and amplified the importance for diversity in everyday life. While on campus, I served as the treasurer for the student led Human Resources Management Association and was nominated as the Sergeant at Arms for the renowned honor society, Beta Gamma Sigma. These were all life-changing experiences in which I owe all credit to the wonderful university that offered them. While many encourage students pursuing their graduate degree to diversify their education, I cant see why I would when I have such a great school right in front of me. Being a graduate from the Bryan School of Business I know the weight that the name holds and I am confident that my skills will be sharpened even more so by returning there. The support that I have always been given by the staff gives me a sense of security that I do not foresee finding at any other university. As clich as it sounds, the phrase Once a Spartan, always a Spartan, comes to mind and although I am already a part of this wonderful family I hope that I can remain there as I pursue my Master of Business Administration."

"I attended UNCG as a transfer student, and completed my undergraduate degree in communication sciences and disorders within a two year time-span. I really don't have anything negative to say about the program. Most of the professors are fantastic, and are usually willing to help with any concerns. The program is challenging, but is definitely doable if the student puts in their own fair share of time and effort."

"This was an amazing school. I double majored here and loved both departments, who became like family. I was invited to go to Istanbul with my religious studies department and they were able to help finance the trip through scholarships. Without it, I would have never had the opportunity. UNCG was the best experience of my life. The campus is friendly. People are laid back. It was a feel good place to be."
