"Recent grad from the UNTHSC MPH online program here. Please be aware that the UNTHSC online MPH program is a total disaster. Despite this is being a cheaper online MPH program, saving money by enrolling in this program is not worth it... This is one of the few times I believe that you pay for what you get. The course material is great and the professors have expertise, yet lack professionalism. The majority of course grades are based mainly on discussion posts. While this sounds easy, after about 15 hours worth of classes it genuinely starts to feel like a waste of time. Very rarely will your course projects/presentations/exams make sense. Often, they are not "real-world" application AT ALL and are purely based on extreme hypotheticals that make minimal sense. Advisors are blind to the ways of the course and believe the program is, "The best thing since the state founded Dr. Pepper" (Actual quote). The program is easy, yes, but there are so many operational issues embedded within the program that the program becomes is non-constructive and obsolete. Unmentioned positive notes: -4 out of the 5 core courses are GREAT!! The professors for these courses really were truly the MVPs and the whole reason I did not leave this program. -Practice experience (Basically the required 1 year internship) is very easy. Many of my classmates had their supervisors sign off on this and just took on extra responsibilities at work. Personally, I do suggest actually doing this though. I would say that this is where the majority of the actual learning comes from. -Many public health leaders are familiar with people from the program and will like your resume because of that ***see negative to this in the next section Unmentioned negative notes: -Other than the core 5 courses, all other courses are offered infrequently prolonging the amount of time you are in the program. -Limited electives lead to enrolling in courses you may not be interested (15 of my 42 hours are focused on health politics/law type courses because of this and have no personal interest in the field of politics/law) -Advisors are disconnected from all other programs at the school. My advisor, who was previously a BSN, essentially told me she has no idea what happens outside of SPH. -Professors seem uninterested in courses; Many will not provide "lectures" (aka all course material is strictly from a book/"outside readings" or will use lectures/syllabus/etc. from previous professors) -***Many of my previous peers now struggle in these positions because the program does not live up to what it states it does."

"I was astonished to find out how inept these highly educated professors were at lecturing and creating didactice material. I can honeslty say that there were only 2 professors that demonstrated pedagogical skills above the level of a high school student."

"The dept was recruiting more professors with research grants. Unfortunately they may not have an ability to teach well. When I was there, more professors who were well known for teaching were leaving because they didn't succeed for securing research grants. Research is strong, but depending on your projects, you may have to suffer for not being able to use high tech equipment."

"The Medical Sciences program at UNT Health Science Center (UNTHSC) has helped me develop value time management and study skills that have prepared me to enter medical school with the confidence that I can undoubtedly succeed. It has also given me an even keener interest in medicine and science that I'll build on in medical school and in my future medical career. The faculty and staff want you to succeed, and provide the resources to do so, with tutoring sessions and pre-exam reviews offered by Medical Science alumni who have succeed in the program and are current medical students at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine within UNTHSC. Earning a master's degree in one year is just the icing on the cake."

"The Masters in Medical Sciences Program at UNTHSC is an outstanding program for students who plan to go to professional school (Medical School, Dental School, Physical Therapy School, etc.). The program is a rigorous year-long program that is designed to provide students the foundation to be successful in their prospective academic fields. It looks great on resume's and I believe it played a large role into my acceptances at multiple medical schools for the following academic year. This is a great option for students who need to improve their GPA from undergraduate or for students who simply want to be better prepared to succeed in professional school."

"This masters degree simulated a first year of medical school, while teaching strong principles in clinical research. After graduating, it had motivated me to apply to earn my doctorate to become a leader in cardiovascular research. It was invaluable."

"Overall the program is OK, but if you register all recommended classes the workload is to high. Also there is little career counseling."

"I am a first year student at the UNTHSC Master in Public Health program, so far I find that the school has a good academic level, well prepared professors with experience in the field. The career support we receive is more focused on professional development, where they prepare us for jobs interviews, they help us to build strong resumes and so forth, however I feel that they could have more alliances or relationships with health institutions that provide jobs for graduates. Overall, Fort Worth is a nice small city, but public transportation in Texas is not very good that is why I gave a low grade for transportation. I live in Dallas so i have a long commute to school, and very limited choices to use public transportation. I think that the workload for this program is a bit too high for what I was expecting, however, the professors and the faculty team are very clear of this since the beginning of the semester, however I would also recommend stressing this for new students specially when they are registering for courses. Thank you,"

"The University of North Texas System College of Pharmacy is a new program that is in its third year. Each successive year, the program improves in areas that it has been lacking in, which have been identified by both the faculty and the students. At the end of each semester, students are allowed to anonymously rate each professor and course in order to allow the school to improve their program. The program also promotes teamwork because at the end of the day, the healthcare field is growing towards teamwork throughout the health professions. If there is any question or concern, professors take out their time to help individuals students. Overall, the program is amazing and the professors truly care about the success of their students."

"The FGEN program at UNTHSC is great for the most part. The forensic specific classes are fantastic as they cover both the basics and more advanced techniques and subjects required to work in a forensics lab. The core courses (biochem, Cell and Molecular Biology, and Immunology) are the only down side as they require a level of detail that is not needed in forensics"
