"Great school, and has opened a lot of doors for me, i wouldn't be where i am today without UNT. I have mean green pride where ever i reside and will always. Received a great education, love and miss Denton all the time. Hope to move back some day. School is what you make of it, do internships work hard and you will be rewarded."

"UNT's political science graduate program has been a challenging but rewarding experience. The favorable traits of UNT's graduate program include faculty access and support, transportation, and student diversity. The faculty at UNT are highly approachable and their professionalism and expertise as academics have served to be valuable resources for graduate students. In addition to having flexible office hours, the UNT political science faculty is frequently engaged in attaining additional funding for the department. For example, the summer of 2014 I had the opportunity to be a graduate mentor for three undergraduate students who engaged in scholarly research funded by the NSF REU scholarship for Conflict Management and Peace science research. The second valuable factor of UNT's political science graduate program is the student diversity. Although diversity may vary by cohort, there is diversity between graduate students in the program, both international and domestic diversity. A third attribute to UNT's graduate program is aimed at the campus in general and not the political science program specifically, which is housing and transportation. Since the campus is located in a small city, transportation is also not an inconvenience. Much of the housing is located near campus, and many students save money in gas or a parking pass by walking, taking the shuttle, or cycling to campus. UNT's political science program offers a good quality of education by providing faculty support and accessibility, student diversity, and access to transportation. Notwithstanding the favorable attributes of UNT's graduate political science program, there are also discommoding factors within the program. These discommoding factors include tightness in funding, room for improvement for career support. Although the location of UNT's political science program offers affordable living expenses (compared to other states) grant and scholarships do not cover all living expenses and tuition for all graduate students. At times students have to pay out of pocket or take out loans to pay tuition. In addition to the tightness in funding, the program also has room for improvement in career support. Although the program does offer teaching opportunities and access to valuable research and datasets for one's own research, the program offers little resources for alternative careers not including academia. Overall, although UNT's graduate political science program needs improvement in career support programs and funding, the program has been able to provide a good quality education from the help of the faculty and learning environment for graduate students."

"I enjoy the fact that my program is smaller than most. I really feel like each of my professors get to know me in addition to the fact that I really get a chance to get to know each of my colleagues. I wish that there was more financial aid available to graduate students in this program, however. While the workload is intense, I wouldn't want it to be spread over more semesters because it's hard enough to pay for as is."

"Grad school is the first time in my academic career that I really have the chance to truly dive into a field that I love. I believe graduate degree will serve as a proof, to potential employers, of my ability to commit to and successfully execute a huge project that requires a ton of discipline, grunt work, and real skill to pull off. In addition it provides me with a chance to form long-lasting relationships and have experiences that are invaluable. On the other hand, it does require a lot of time away from your family and a significant amount of money :)"

"This school has the nobel goal of increasing quality of research performed by the University. However, they currently offer no financial support for their students with the exception of Teaching Assistantships. These TAs require work that accounts for more than what they pay for, although they do have fully supplemented health insurance for TAs only. Foreign students who often cannot teach are not offered this health insurance. There are very few resources from the graduate school on how to complete the program in a timely manner which places a huge burden on the Faculty mentor. The department is horrible at placing failure to thrive on the students rather than supporting them to find a solution. The basic courses in proposal writing, which is the only tools course for a scientific career, is completely unhelpful. The department offers very few courses to get through the degree program efficiently which forces students to take more hours than they need in order to maintain full-time studentship required for financial aid. This department needs a serious revamping and more helpful, and student-oriented advising staff. These are just some of the things I've noticed."

"This is my first semester at the University of North Texas. The program is a challenging curriculum and provides a good learning environment, as well as a supportive group of professors and students. I am afraid because of my financial situation; however, that this will also be my last semester because I am unable to afford the tuition costs. I am trying to find financial support for my education, otherwise I may be forced to drop the program."

"The school itself is amazing, the teachers are high quality and you will get a good education. However, outside the classroom, and by that I mean the faculty that do not teach, you won't get help. In the fall of 2011 I signed up for 2 classes online, Organizational Behavior and Management Dynamics. There was a "lock" on my account that took 2 days to get removed. In the two days, the class filled. I found 2 more classes, but couldn't get into those either due to another lock (this one was just 24 hours to remove). After that I called the school asking if I could be bumped into the class. They said no, so I came to accept I wouldn't get to go fall 2011. Come November, I found out I was enrolled in those 2 classes after all I never got notification, no emails, no contact from the instructor, nothing. I contacted the school, who then told me I owed them $800 (The financial aid they got covered some of the class). After spending weeks jumping through hoops, being denied withdrawal from the classes after I surrendered my financial aid*, I finally got the issue resolved. After the spring 2012 classes started. So I missed two semesters of work because of their computer errors. I dropped out and went through another public state school's online program. Had it not been for this school, I would have graduated in 2013 and not 2014, I lost an entire year of school because of them. *I had to write a letter requesting that I surrender financial aid in order to get out of the class. After I surrendered it, the school denied my withdrawal from the class and sent me a bill for $2,000. The head of the college of business said he would not grant my request to withdrawal from the classes and have them wiped off my transcript even after the same people told me to surrender financial aid in order to have them removed from my transcript."

"Welp, I studied English with a concentration in Technical Communications. I'm now a Technical Writer, so I'd say it was right down my alley! The professors in the English department are great, except for one... if you're a guy. He hates guys I'm pretty sure. Anyways, the degree program was great and I learned everything I needed to before being kicked out into the real world. Now I have $30k in student loans and wish I was back in school. It's funny how you pay so much money to get a degree to get a job to pay off the amount of money you borrowed to get that job. Whew! Ironic!"

"The University of North Texas graduate program provides onsite clinical training in convergence with challenging academic coursework. The clinical supervisors and academic faculty are almost always available for any assistance that a student may require. The University of North Texas is a beautiful campus with many accommodations, nestled on the side of Denton Texas. The only detriment to this facility is the commute, the interstate is often congested and irritating."

"UNT is a great school overall. My BCIS program is actually amazing at UNT and a lot of companies know that we have such an awesome program that they come to our school to hire us, knowing we will be great employees. The bad side is that each year it just keeps getting more and more pricey to attend."

"I found the senior level courses to be exceptional and in depth to world issues humans faced round the world. Many of the teachers are dedicated to rigorous testing and want to help students achieve and understand the material. The department tries really hard to bring people from all backgrounds to campus and from other insitutions."

"I have been attending UNT for 3 years now , and overall i like the school they want you to be really involved and they have a lot of programs and groups so that no one is left out. The location is pretty awesome ! Denton is growing fast so that wasn't a problem. After my first year at UNT i really started to despise my maor, the teachers were hard, the classes were not inspiring as they were at my other school and i just felt like the teachers really didnt care to much to work with you, except for one, Mrs. Yates! Shes is the best teacher by far i have ever had in my 4 years of school 3 different school and 3 different States!"

"The emergency loan process takes 4-6 weeks, which doesn't help in a financial emergency. My degree program was the joke of the university. Football players were forced to major in sociology because it was the easiest degree plan. For those of us who actually love sociology it was humiliating. Almost all of the electives we need are online because there are not enough instructors because it is such a small department. The university union was torn down and is under construction. Every time it rains the sidewalks and streets flood on the south side of campus. There are not enough bike racks, so if you lock up your bike somewhere you are not allowed campus police will take your bike. Just like any university they care more about being a Top Tier and football then academics and their students happiness."

"The University of North Texas has one of the graduate exercise science program and professors in the state. Each professor is still doing work in their field, which keeps them current on what is going on. The downside about that is somethings it hard to reach a professor. The classes are challenging so that the student has an opportunity to expand their abilities. The university is a very special place. North Texas is ranked number one in school that are "Green." The student body is unique. Everyday I am amazed at diversity on campus. Every week there is an opportunity to learn about different cultures and countries. The city of Denton is a very progressive city. It is good place to raise kids and also a good college town. My problem is with transportation. I live in different city and have to take the train in but the train stop running before 9:30pm. My last class ends at 9:30pm so I don't have transportation back. I love my program and the university. I am glad I chose University of North Texas."
