"This is a really good program. It is fairly new to the school, so they are still working out the kinks and taking out classes that are not necessary. There are many opportunities to network with faculty and get your foot in the door for a job upon graduation."

"The cost is very high for a graduate program especially when you are still paying loans for your undergraduate education. Pros: - excellent reputation"

"The Doctorate in Clinical Social Work in the School of Social Policy and Practice at the University of Pennsylvania is a terrific program. The faculty are some of the most prestigious in the country. The program is rigorous. The only downfall is that no financial aid is available for the program. The program cost is competitive, however, the lack of financial aid will leave students in high debt. Fortunately, Penn is a presitgious school so job prospects are always good."

"Not as heavy on the academics as some would expect but still very useful overall."

"It is a good school with a good reputation, so the degree has high value. The classes and content are challenging and interesting. My particular program is very specific and hard to find elsewhere. However, the school excels in research, so it might not be the best place to come for a more practical degree, especially given the high cost of the school. Professors are knowledgeable but generally seem very busy with their own work. As far as the campus itself, although the surrounding neighborhood is not the safest, campus police are everywhere and make it feel safe. Transportation is readily available."

"Penn is a wonderful place in a wonderful city. When I first moved here I didn't think much of Philadelphia but have come to appreciate that it is incredibly under-rated. The city is as cheap as you can get for a big city, with great public transport and biking, and I have never felt unsafe. The school itself is full of motivated and inspired students, and the administration does a fairly good job at listening to student feedback."

"Wharton has an incredible reputation and network of alumni across many different fields. Additionally, the student body is diverse and impressive. Faculty are also quite strong. The school's emphasis and opportunities in cross-disciplinary programs is unrivaled."

"Penn social sciences is among the best in the country. It is hard to get in, but students are well-taken care of once they are accepted. Another reason that makes Penn a good choice is the strategic location of the campus--everything is near, whether food, shopping, or cultural activities. This is a place where students can thrive through quality education and one that makes work enjoyable."

"I'm getting a Ph.D. in social psychology. In short, Penn offers all the advantages (and perhaps disadvantages) of a highly competitive program: excellent resources, excellent networks and professors, opportunities and support for conducting innovative research, all accompanied by a so-so social life. The campus is safe, and West Philly isn't too bad if you know the areas to avoid. Financial support is excellent, and Philly is a relatively cheap city which makes living here affordable for a grad student. The city itself is a $10 bus ride from NY, and has a good food scene and an OK art scene."

"Pros: top-notch graduate education in cognitive sciences and neurosciences; peers have a variety of interests such that if it can be studied, someone at Penn is studying it; interdisciplinary communication Con: the social and academic networks are diffuse, not very tight-knit - this is the price you pay for the emphasis on interdisciplinary study"
