"The PhD program in Nursing is excellent as far as funding goes, and houses faculty who are very experienced in grant writing and garnering government funds to promote research. There are many awesome networking opportunities here to be sure. The program has many excellent, highly motivated students who are exceptionally devoted to nursing and making a difference across multiple facets of healthcare. One of the main complaints I have, however, is that I have found that funding does not correlate well with quality of teaching and programming. The Nursing PhD program is far too long (the longest program in the United States) and some of the classes were work-intensive and yet I genuinely feel as though I took away very minimal useful information. My time in some instances would have been much better used learning other things critical to my future career. Furthermore, some of the staff have been very difficult to work with, and I felt like I was fighting an uphill battle even though I am the most committed and hard-working student I know. Again, overall, a great program; be cognizant, however, that a program's reputation and funding dollars do not necessarily translate into the most supportive faculty and great teachers."

"The best thing about this program is how much grad students and their opinions are valued. I have never heard of a program where the graduate students are involved so deeply in the administrative processes of the department."

"The program itself is great. The professors are all very qualified and very accessible whenever you have a question. My one gripe is that financial aid is not very generous and it makes it difficult to go to school, knowing a huge debt is hanging over my head. But besides this, I love the school and feel that I am getting a great legal education."

"For the most part, I am really enjoying my time at the Graduate School of Public & International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. If I could make a suggestion, I would wish that the program is becomes more practical, rather than theoretical as to better prepare students for career life."

"Today there are Nurse Anesthetist Schools developing all over the country making it much easier to be accepted into a CRNA school. However, the rapid growth of these schools does not allow them to maintain a higher quality of education. The University of Pittsburgh has held their standards high in their education of student Nurse Anesthetists, all while providing a lower cost education."

"The program I am in is highly competitive as there are a limited number of TAships available for financial support. However, after this program I feel as if I will be prepared to continue my education as a PhD candidate in the future."

"The professors in the program are incredibly accessible and very willing to help with anything ranging from networking to homework. Within the first two weeks, the professors knew the names of every student in the program. The program is moving toward even more clinic hours and hands-on learning which is very useful in order to learn the profession, but does increase the work-load substantially. Because this is such a small program, there isn't much financial aid available. However, the MS in Prosthetics and Orthotics at Pitt is significantly less expensive than other programs while still doing a fantastic job of preparing its students to become practitioners."

"I am currently studying in the University of Pittsburgh’s PhD program in Social and Comparative Analysis in Education. I feel there are many positive characteristics of this program, such as a very high quality of education, an action-oriented approach to conducting research, and the flexibility to take on-site classes both during the day and at night (which allows me to work part-time). These characteristics have been vital in supporting me as a learner in optimizing the breadth and depth of my educational experience and preparing me for my future in the education and reunification of displaced children and families. Above all of these pros, what I believe to be the best aspect of my program is the holistic, interdisciplinary approach that it takes in giving PhD students an individualized education in order to most adequately be prepared to meet our goals as professionals and as individuals. My program allows me to study through the lenses of global and multicultural studies, community development and sustainability, policy studies, development education, and peace studies. The cons I have encountered while studying in this program have mostly centered on the decreasing amount of work-study positions (Teaching Assistant, Graduate Assistant, and paid fellowships) offered in the program, causing extreme funding challenges as I work to attempt to pay for all my tuition and living expenses. Another negative aspect of my experience has been a lack of communication from the financial aid office. On numerous occasions, I have attempted contacting the Financial Aid Office with no answer and no response, for up to five weeks at a time. Despite these challenges, the University of Pittsburgh is in perfect alignment with my desire to provide tangible opportunity and hope through large-scale projects in education, research, and policy for international students, refugees, and war-affected peoples abroad."

Courses are flexible and can be chosen by the second week of every semester. Faculties are very approachable Excellent infrastructure Cons chances for financial aid for masters programs are a bit hard"
