"Utah offers a great program, but political departmental situations can be frustrating. Overall, the faculty provides good support, but it's often difficult to get in contact with the necessary parties. Also, though it advertises itself as a 4 year degree, that is a rarity - it will normally take 5+ years to finish a PhD. It's a great program, but like any degree, it comes with its own set of issues."

"Pros- Good faculty and solid program and good students. Cons- faculty not always available. They should be available more often- especially since it's a state school. Faculty mentoring is not that great."

"Great support for students, and great communication. I am glad to have the opportunity to teach my own class, rather than be a Teaching Assistant."

"I am in the department of math in the University of Utah. Our graduate program is very excellent. There are many great algebraic geometers and number theorists. I like to study for Ph.D. degree in this department."

"Good program. I was not offered a fellowship or research assistantship, but I was able to get one after a lot of talking/networking with professors"

"Great place to be for both work/school and pleasure. The University of Utah is highly ranked for engineering and #1 for start-up companies, overtaking MIT two years ago. Salt lake city is also currently the fastest growing city with plenty of outdoor activities to do in the mountains less than 30 minutes away. Camping, hiking and skiing at some of the best resorts in North America are just a few of the great activities people do. A good education and great natural scenery are what make University of Utah such a wonderful place to attend."
