"Do not make the same mistake I did PICK ANOTHER UNIVERSITY. Not only was I disappointed with the school, when I was a student but now that I am am alumni, I cannot access my student records or use any of the alumni services because my phone is too old for thier stupid, manditory, security app. I paid so much money in student loans, just so I could get locked out of everything. It's ridiculous!"

"I highly recommend NOT attending the University of Utah's College of Architecture and Planning program. It is a complete mess and the only consistent thing about the college is that it is consistently inconsistent. Do to their lack of organization we have retaken several classes primarily their Building Tech class and Professional Practice class. They are very unsure of what to teach us and very little of what they have taught us is applicable to the real world. They pride themselves on their Design Build programs for their grad student but they are in complete shambles. Design Build Salt Lake has completely tanked and no longer exists. Design Build Bluff exists but is unorganized. For all their grad students who enrolled for Design Build Salt Lake, they have them designing and fabricating pendant lights, chairs, and an outhouse for Bluff. They had lied to us about Design Build Salt Lake, stating that we would be building an ADU for the homeless only to discover 2/3 of they way through our first semester of grad school that Design Build Salt Lake no longer existed. They new Design Build Salt Lake would no longer exist yet they lied to us all in hope that we would apply to their program. There has also been overwhelming evidence of mishandling of funds, and when they overcharged us for a semester and we complained about it they quickly edit the total course credit hours for the semester from 12 to 16. It wasn't even 12 credit hours."

"The first year has better professors than second year. But the full year of “Macro” and “Reflexive” classes are absolute jokes. I wish I had done a different program focused on actual mental health care techniques. Most of the professors are abysmal. There are some gold nuggets: Landward, Gringeri, Bettman-Schaefer for DSM, O’Connor, Lundahl. I am in second year and all the new profs they hired seem like they have no idea what they’re doing. Some have no class structure and just expect an “open dialogue” for 3 hours. Extremely easy As. Not what anyone expects from grad school. Shame. Go elsewhere."

"I got an honors degree in international studies and political science. My experience at the U was worth it because of Center for Ethnic Students Affairs, Hinckley Institute of Politics and study abroad experiences. However, due to my interest in food politics, I would definitely choose Westminster College where I am getting my masters at."

"The University of Utah is a good school. There are politics involved in some of the departments, like the engineering department. I don't know much about this but my husband graduated from the EE program and spoke about this. He feels like overall it was a good EE program to attend. My human development and family studies program had a fantastic academic advisor that really helped you figure out your plan. The teachers at UofU can lean on the liberal side especially in their teaching. However, my experienced showed me that the teachers in my department were very unbiased in their grading. The content was highly interesting and well taught by knowledgable professors. I would recommend my program to anyone wanting to pursue such a path. If I had anything to complain about it would be parking and safety. The parking at the school has been terrible for years. I do know they recently built a parking garage but there is minimal parking and the cost for a pass is astronomical. I do appreciate the free use of public transportation but some times it's not an option. Safety has come into question recently because of the death of a student. However, this has been a concern for me for years because many women were sexually assaulted in the stadium parking in broad daylight. The UofU needs to take bigger steps in making their students safer."

"This program has been amazing. I love how we are actually learning and implementing the requirements that we will need to do as a school counselor while we are attending school. An example of that includes the implementation of the evidence box which we used during class as one of our big project assessments. This is actually required for us as a counselor in our practice. We also were required to participate in all of the career assessments that we will be administering to our students as counselors and reflect on how we would use those in our practice. The professors are very knowledgeable and they also brought in guest speakers who are experts in the field and who actually have put together the programs that we will be using. Another valuable thing is that they feel it is so important to be a part of the national and state organizations that they pay for our memberships into those organizations and help us register for those organizations while we are in school. They pay for us to go to cutting edge national conferences, or professional development offerings so that we can hear the latest and most up to date conversations with peers across the country. The cohort approach also creates a community of students that is a built in network that you will be able to work with during your two years as a student, but also in the future as we all move on to different schools in our practice. That has been very valuable in creating teamwork and networking opportunities, especially as we have a few who move on to schools as elementary counselors and are the only counselor in their school."

"My experience at the University of Utah was amazing and will have a lasting impact on how I view higher education. The teachers at University of Utah are all incredible passionate about whatever it is they teach. Each and every class was crafted with incredible detail and care. The courses were all challenging in different ways however I always felt supported by the staff. The teachers and advisors clearly want to make sure they are making a positive impact on the lives of their students in order to set the next generation up for lasting success. I can not speak highly enough about the University of Utah as a whole."

"The University of Utah is an amazing school. I was in the actor's conservatory which is a highly accredited program. I was awarded a full ride scholarship to the acting program. Classes started at 9 am and went to 5 pm. We usually had 1 hour for dinner and then we went straight to rehearsals. It was an incredibly demanding program that leaves no time for other activities. It would be extremely difficult to have a family and participate in this program. The training is unbelievable. The campus itself is so gorgeous. If you aren't from Utah and you are thinking of moving to Utah you have to be aware of the 4 seasons. Winter is extremely snowy. If you are not used to the snow or don't like the snow, it would be hard. I would highly encourage anyone going into performing arts to complement your degree with a business degree of some kind. The arts, in general, don't prepare you to enter the theatre or art world with a business perspective."

"I really enjoyed the University of Utah. I thought that the professors were really great and taught thoroughly. They were available for help when I had questions and took the time to help me. I also really liked the career services that the school has available. It was really easy for me to meet with my academic counselor each semester. The University of Utah is a great college."

"The University of Utah was a home away from home for me during my time as an undergrad. While scouting for colleges to attend, I had toured up to 15 different campuses and none had the same feeling that I had with the U. The first time I went to the university, we walked and walked for what seemed like only minutes when in reality we had taken up the entire afternoon. The University of Utah allows its students to learn, grow and prosper with many different clubs, activities, and open facilities. So you can become the best doctor, mathematician or business person that you would like to see in the future."

"I received an amazing education at the University of Utah, in part because of the faculty in the Department of Theatre. Although the U of U is a research university, all of my professors were very focused on teaching and were always willing to go above and beyond. Additionally, most professors saw value in incorporating current events and social issues into an arts education. However, the U of U could work on diversity. The majority of faculty is white and cis-gendered."

"It took me two tries to get into this program as they only accept 15 students per year. Due to the competitiveness of the program, I was expecting a high quality program with great instruction. Instead, the program was terrible and there were only 2 or 3 good instructors throughout. And, most of those were adjuncts. As future dietitian, I would expect to at least step foot in a hospital sometime during the first two semesters, but that didn't happen until May 2017. Instead, they count blood pricks for 3 hours a week for the first two semesters as clinical hours. I am extremely disappointed that I spent over $40,000 on such a sub-par program. I would recommend looking elsewhere for a coordinated master's program in nutrition."

"The University of Utah's Psychology program is outstanding. The professors are knowledgeable and willing to help any student who is dedicated to advancing their academic career. Psychology is an extremely diverse degree. With an engineering degree, you become and engineer, a law degree you become lawyer, etc. With a psychology degree, you can pursue any number of career paths which is both exciting and daunting. This is why I highly recommend you rely on the support services of the U of U Academic Advisors and The Career Services Office. These highly trained professionals in will help accelerate your career after graduation."

"The University of Utah's Master's of Public Administration program is exceptional! For such a big University, I've never had a class larger than 25 students. The program is designed for professionals with full time jobs. All the classes are in the evening. The professors are all very understanding of the business of our lives. I am currently working a full-time and part-time job with 2 kids and while it is difficult, I have been able to get all the work done. This program doesn't just teach you the material, they really try to prepare you for success in your career. I would absolutely recommend this program to anyone wanting to go into the Public Sector."
