"Vanderbilt is a fantastic university that guides promising students to promising futures. The opportunities and education I received at Vanderbilt is invaluable! The university also makes college a reality for many students like myself who do not have the financial means to attend college. I'm so thankful for Vanderbilt!"

"A college education's role in preparing you for the job market is secondary, in my opinion, to its role in giving you the freedom and skills to think critically about the world around you, to entertain and evaluate ideas that seem, at first, foreign or even repulsive to you, and to empathize with those unlike yourself. Vanderbilt University is cognizant of this fact and gives students the freedom to explore and develop these human faculties while simultaneously assisting your economic prospects."

"By far, one of the greatest perks of being at Peabody is the access to National Education researchers and trendsetters. The level of work one does while at Peabody is expected to be high. The program is rigorous, and you cannot help but learn more than you even know you're learning at the time."

"In the recent years, many JD graduates, saturated in debt, have questioned the value of an expensive law school education. At Vanderbilt, I have been support by numerous financial planning advisors and career counselors provided by the law school to assist in minimizing debt and finding legal employment post graduation. I feel empowered by the education I am receiving and excited about a future in the legal profession. Although expensive, I am making this graduate degree count!"

"I loved it! Great classes in all respects: professors, subjects, quality of material, size. Great social life with tons of clubs and student groups. Competing in the SEC was a lot of fun. The campus is BEAUTIFUL. Most of the dorms are alright, especially the new ones. Food is great."

"Nashville is a great city to live in, and attending a small, private university that also contains a medical school provides some great opportunities in the area of biomedical engineering. Collaboration between labs and fields of study is a strong point. The BME program is small enough to feel like a family. Program requirements have changed a lot in recent years and sometimes it can be difficult to know exactly what is expected of you. Overall, I would recommend the program and I'm glad I chose it."

"Vanderbilt is a highly competitive, highly challenging school, and Peabody College provides pertinent curriculum and hands-on interaction that balances out the whole experience. With a small cohort and a lot of one-on-one interactions with faculty and staff, I feel valued and heard, as well as an integral part of the Peabody community. It is a fast-paced environment, so it is imperative to stay focused and on-task in order to stay on track. Sometimes the program demands can be overwhelming, but the support from fellow classmates and staff reduce the stress and worry. The program is going through some changes and addressing issues brought up by current and former students, so I know that once you advocate for something, your voice will be heard in this community. Although I feel my Vanderbilt education will give me the experience and knowledge I need to succeed in the workforce, the cost of attending is definitely a con."

"Great experience. I was able to create my own specialized interdisciplinary major across the English and History departments to suit my interests. Classes were generally small and featured a lot of dialogue (as opposed to lecturing). Professors were very accessible."

  • Degree: Chemistry
"The graduate chemistry program offers a lot of flexibility and variety in both coursework and research. This allows most students to study what they are most interested in. Vanderbilt offers world class research facilities and the instrument "cores" structure allows access a large variety of instrumentation and expertise. This really benefits students regardless of their research focus. The one caution I would provide is that in this program you get out of it what you put into it. There is not as much pressure from the department as at some other schools so you become more responsible for driving your own education. This can be great but it can also allow some individuals to take the easiest courses and put minimal effort into research."
