"Overall VCU is a good university with great faculty, particularly within the anthropology department. The courses within the department are engaging and emphasize critical thought and writing skills. In terms of the campus life, Richmond is a great city with lots to do."

"Virginia Commonwealth University is located in the heart of Richmond and is known for its diversity. VCUs student body represents 108 different countries, and includes many diverse programs such as the VCU-GLOBE program that highlights this unique quality. I have a very unique perspective of VCU because I was transfer student, but I also grew up in the Richmond area. The main reason I chose to transfer to VCU was for their allied health programs, and to be apart of a more diverse school. Overall I loved the way VCU and Richmond seamlessly collided on and off of campus. Many areas near large public colleges become surrounded by poverty, like the Blacksburg community surrounding Virginia Tech, but VCU is very active in the community and strives to renovate and rejuvenate many off-campus areas surrounding Richmond. My education at VCU is irreplaceable, so much so that I recently accepted my spot in VCUs Doctor of Occupational therapy program. During the first year my education at VCU I was a biology major. While many of my microbiology and anatomy courses were tough, the professors made sure to teach the material so that you arent learning straight from the text book. The information that I learned at VCU, I can not only recall but I can also apply to everyday situations because of the way the professor presented the material. It is also very convenient to have the Medical College of Virginia (which partners with VCUs allied health programs and medical programs) less than 5 miles from the campus. This allows pre health students to earn credit, volunteer hours, and find jobs that are specialized within their careers right on campus. While I love many aspects of VCUs campus and education I will say coming in as a transfer student was quite challenging. As a transfer student you do not get the same formal orientation that freshman get, and being in a medium size city trying to problem solve is overwhelming at times. Another challenge in being a transfer student was that it was harder to meet and become friends with other students. I was lucky because I knew a few students at VCU that had gone to high school with me, but I would argue that VCU could do a much better job connecting transfer students to the traditional student body. Despite this issue, I am still a huge advocate for VCU and all that it stands for. Go rams!"

"I began my undergraduate college experience at Virginia Commonwealth University and decided to further my education here. Since my freshman year, the school has significantly flourished and continues to grow as a school that celebrates diversity. The campus has continuously worked with campus security to increase police presence throughout the campus. This allows students to walk throughout the campus without having to worry about any dangers that are usually thought to happen in cities. Academically, the school has also worked to create more resources for students to seek out. The school has continuously funded various programs that allow students to seek out their passion, as well as get the support necessary to excel academically."

"Beautiful campus and politically engaged student body. Like any university, there were some faculty I found absolutely inspiring and others I found to leave much to be desired. Like every institute of higher education, it's apparent that the faculty is overworked and perhaps undervalued, particularly those not in tenure-track positions. Student numbers in advanced level courses are too high, leaving professors unable to work closely with individual students on daunting research projects. Even so, I recommend VCU to anyone living in Virginia looking to pursue a college degree."

"At first, I was not sure about VCU. Once I visited, I fell in love. VCU and Richmond offer each other so much. The culture that surrounds VCU is like that of no other college campus. Snead School of Business is absolutely beautiful. It is brand new and has many features that make studying not so dreadful. Professors are all willing to help whenever it is needed. Go to VCU!"

"I have been highly impressed with the School of Social Work's curriculum and professors. Most professors are engaging and motivating, although some of the adjunct staff have been disappointing. My student success advisor is excellent and she has gone out of her way to help me with all of the questions I have had."

"Expect to find total diversity at VCU. This school is full of pride and does a great job of making everyone feel inclusive. The classes are very flexible allowing you to work around your work schedule as I did. While they offer some online classes, I have never taken more than 1 at a time. I'm not sure if the have a limit on the number of online course you can take at a time. The school certain promotes learning in a classroom setting. The professor, have a true passion for the class subjects at hand and you learn a lot of good information that is applicable to the workforce but also to your personal life."

"VCU is giving me an opportunity after having taken several gap years since graduating from Duke University as my undergraduate college. Although VCU's medical student body is relatively large in number, the communities within the classes and the administration give the university a family feel. I would recommend VCU for aspiring medical students looking for a welcoming environment on the path towards practicing medicine."

"Overall, VCU's PhD in pharmaceutical sciences is a very challenging degree to obtain, but the help and generosity from most of the faculty really help guide your learning and in completing your research project. The course work curriculum is pretty comprehensive and professors expect a fair amount of effort from you. Upon getting in you will be expected to serve as a TA for the PharmD students with a max of 12 hours/week for at least 1 term, but for 3 years if you want to get student support funding."

"The Virginia Commonwealth University is an excellent school that will effectively assist students in furthering their education. The atmosphere is rather diverse and easy to accustom to. Academic advisors are efficient in assisting students with matters such as registering for classes. They are also great sources for granting career advice and providing students with resources that will help in meeting future career goals. The school's men's basketball team has brought much attention to the university over the past years; however, the education is grand as well. VCU has an excellent nursing program and a very competitive Art school amongst other superb programs. I recommend this school to any student that plans on furthering their education."

"VCU was an excellent school. After two years in community college, I transfered easily to VCU with guaranteed acceptnce. The Exercise Science Program is growing, but improving every year. Some of my classes were not as well organized as I would have hoped, but I know they are improving and becoming one of the largest programs at VCU. My advisor was extremely helpful and made sure I had all my classes I needed to graduate on time."
