I spent most of my lifetime growing up in Buffalo, New York. While I have made lasting friendships and established myself as a individual in both an educational and professional sense, I have never truly felt connected to my undergraduate university. Making the decision to move and accept work as a PhD student at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) has been the single best decision of my educational and personal career. The professors at VCU have not only the experience and know-how to teach students, but the patience, approachability, and friendly characteristics which enables me as a student and future industry employee to strive for greatness and never settle for less. Studying various aspects composing Pharmaceutical Sciences is no easy task but with the guidance from all professors within the Pharmaceutics department at VCU, I have been and am continually given the knowledge to succeed in the future.

Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy is a great institution to attend. The classes are very insightful and help prepare you for your career. The University provides a very stress free and friendly atmosphere. You can always find a friend if you need one. They strive on making you the best possible pharmacist you can be.

Overall, VCU's PhD in pharmaceutical sciences is a very challenging degree to obtain, but the help and generosity from most of the faculty really help guide your learning and in completing your research project. The course work curriculum is pretty comprehensive and professors expect a fair amount of effort from you. Upon getting in you will be expected to serve as a TA for the PharmD students with a max of 12 hours/week for at least 1 term, but for 3 years if you want to get student support funding.

VCU school of pharmacy is a great university. The school is always looking for ways to enhance our experience as a student and the networking opportunities are great. Residency placement and job opportunities are also great reasons to attend VCU. I also felt prepared when I started my residency and at my first job.

This is a really well-respected program, and is the best in the state of Virginia. Going to school in a city is a pro and a con, because there is lots of culture, but a slightly more difficult environment if you're not used to the bustle of urban life.
