Degree: Public Policy

Pros- It is very convenient completing my degree online. I also like the level of expertise exhibited by my professors. They are also very helping in assisting me through the process of completing my program and dissertation. Cons- The cost is very expensive and there are few options available for students to pay tuition.

My online graduate program was a success for me because of the hours I worked as a full time educator. The instructors were there for me and helped in extending our learning in their areas of expertise along with encouraging us to explore our own. The only con I found was the lack of personal contact that one has with a brick and mortar school. Sometimes the personal connections can be the break through a student needs to push forward.

Walden has been a great university so far. I have had plenty of faculty/staff members from my Enrollment Advisor to my professors help me with getting acquainted with Blackboard and all student services. If you are used to having a traditional professor who lectures and gives presentations (PowerPoints, guest speakers, etc.), Walden may not be for you. Walden's classroom is more of an independent study (with the help and aid of classroom discussions that are a huge part of your grade). So far, so good!

One of the main advantages of Walden University's online education is that classes are available anywhere there is a computer and an Internet connection. This perk is especially important for individuals living in remote or rural areas who can't relocate and don't want to commute to school. It's also useful for parents who study at home with young children, individuals who work full time, or students who prefer to work in the comfort of their own homes or local coffee shops. These online courses allow a student to work at any time of the day or night. This advantage removes the time constraint of attending a traditional class lecture at a specified time. Students can also review class material at length without feeling rushed. On the other hand, by not taking a course in a traditional classroom, students miss having face time with their professors and other students. This can deprive them of important networking opportunities, as well as basic social interaction. Students hoping to make new friends - or find future business partners - in school, should consider taking at least a couple of courses on campus.

Degree: Nursing
Graduation Year: 2017

The pros is that it is online and allows me to work a night shift schedule and still attend classes. With a new family this can be hard but having online allows me to have a more flexible schedule. The cons is that you lack some of the personal interaction offered by student teacher 1:1 in class. But I am very excited about this new opportunity for me to obtain my masters.

Walden University provides excellent support to students. Faculty and staff are accessible almost any time, the workload is just right, and the library is excellent. I would not have been able to attend a brick and mortar school, and when I found Walden, I was happy. The academic rigor rivals and exceeds traditional colleges and universities. I will beep proud to get my Ed.D. From Walden University.

Degree: Criminal Justice
Graduation Year: 2015

I am working on my PhD in Forensic Psychology. I love attending Walden University Online program. I am a single mother who works full time so having the ability to attend school online makes my life easy. Only downfall is when you want to ask for help you don't have a professor you can speak with face to face. Yet many of my instructors are very quick to reply to emails and even offer phone conferences by appointments.
