Not being able to take the courses at the time you want. ordering material that you need and not required. In other words let the student order their own books, and take courses in the order that they wish to take it. Having to take a course at a certain order is not always the best for the student. In order for the student to do their best they should be given the freedom to register their courses or given the option at least. The same for ordering books. The student may have a book that is required already and now must pay for a second book of the same copy and edition. (waste of material and money) The courses paired together may not be the way the student would like to take it and cause boredom or disinterest.

The Walden University experience has been wonderful. I am new to the on-line education but the support at Walden has been most helpful and the library resources have been amazing.

The teachers are great with providing students with the tools needed to succeed in life. I like the way the school promotes social change in getting students to volunteer in their community to make a difference.

Recruiter spoke with me several times for an hour or more at a time and still did not put me in the right program. Imagine my shock when I found out at the end of my next to last class that the Master's degree I thought was going to be in Special Education was actually a General Ed Masters! Was told that there was nothing to do until class started in two weeks when I first started, when there was a student handbook and at least two program specific handbooks that I could have been reading within that time. If I had read I probably would have known of the 7 project portfolio requirement that they surprised me with after I was already committed to the program; the portfolio requirement that saw three of the projects that completely used material that had received A marks in the class, failing completely!

The high quality of the individuals in my courses as well as my Professors creates a brick and mortar feel to my online studies. I was skeptical at taking an online degree but it is the quality and the prestige that this school adopts and has enveloped into its mission that creates a security in learning and growth in my educational experience. The online experience is what I needed at this point in my life and career so it fits.

Pros are that you can go to school while working, BUT any free time is taken by the amount of reading required.
