"Overall Yale Provides an Excellent MCDB Program that will provide you the skills and knowledge necessary to advance your career as an independent scientist. The only downside is having to live in New Haven, CT, which is not the safest of areas."

"Pros: The public health program at Yale is such a tight-knit community. Everyone is so supportive and personable. This enhances both the learning environment and professional development. Cons: Not really a terrible thing, but don't expect to have your hand held. You still have to work to find a job!"

"What I love most of YSM is the Yale System and the people. No matter which medical school you end up deciding on, you're gonna love it--don't let anyone tell you otherwise. What sealed the deal for me is Yale's philosophy on education and med-student-nurturing. I need to make my own mistakes and dig through obstacles myself in order to truly grow, so this really was the best fit for me. After 2nd look, I knew I had to come here..and I've never regretted my decision."

"The intimate and extraordinarily collaborative environment (especially in the immunobiology department) is great for research and development. Professors here are for the most part very caring about their students as well as very well established experts in their fields. New Haven can be a bit rough in spots but is surprisingly a fun and culturally-rich city with a busy downtown well connected to NYC and Boston, as well as a nice, more suburbian area up north with many great parks and nature."

"For a school of it's caliber, YSM is notorious for being relaxed and non-competitive. There is plenty of support from both faculty and peers."

"Pros: - very competitive graduate program - great financial aid package - professors always available and accessible - supportive learning environment Cons: - surrounding area (New Haven, CT) is dangerous - most grad students live in cheap apartments near or adjacent to the projects - no time for social or family life; weekend trips are not possible due to academic commitments - extremely stressful environment, despite the supportive faculty - academic commitments from 9:00 am until as late as 2:00 am daily"

"Yale is a great place to go to graduate school. Social life in New Haven has been one of the most pleasant surprises of coming here; there is a graduate student bar that is a wonderful gathering place and you can always show up and know a bunch of the people there. New Haven has amazing restaurants, is easy to get around, and is very affordable on a graduate student stipend. The students in my program are some of the happiest graduate students I've ever interacted with; we have a great graduate student community and a supportive environment."

"Yale's School of Management has a close-knit community who are eager to work with their classmates both in their school work and in the networking that is critical to land a job afterwards. The school is leaning heavily on the overall university, growing an incredible international network and about to open a great new facility. Yale SOM is clearly on the rise."

"Yale is unsurpassed in alumni networking and career advancement after graduation, but the particular program I enrolled in lacked the diversity I had sought in a graduate program."

"The people here are really nice and helpful. The research atmosphere is also very good. Students help each other without too much competition, and the most pressure comes only from oneself who wants to do well. The administrative staff is not very active about explaining what's going on with the school, but they are always available to answer questions."

"Cons: The New Haven area outside of Yale is notoriously "bad neighborhood," with a bit-too-often rate of crime coming onto the Yale campus itself. However, generally being smart about your surroundings (not walking around alone at 1am) will keep you completely safe, and the Yale campus security is quite dedicated to alleviating any problems. The cost of being in this area, while better than the nearby New York or Boston, is quite high; you can expect your money to go much less far than in more rural places. Pros: While the surrounding city climate is a bit undesirable, the Yale Campus itself is a sprawling beauty in the middle of New Haven. The museums and galleries are fantastic and the tours of Yale are great as well. The best "pro" for me is the Physics department: if you find Yale to have the kind of research you are looking for, then you will have no problem with the faculty, staff, chair, and fellow students. The professors are open and helpful, including as research mentors. You'll keep busy but appropriately so, and if you have a great group of fellow students as I do, you will have a correspondingly great academic support system. Overall, I recommend this University wholeheartedly."

"New Haven is not the most fun place to spend time, but Yale's reputation and financial support, as well as the quality of the student body, makes it easily the best choice in the country for law school. Having no real grades and no class rank does not hurt either."

"YLS does a good job of creating a happy environment that doesn't apply unnecessary pressure on its students."
