Degree: Psychology
Graduation Year: 2015

I recently graduated with my Masters in Industrial Organizational Psychology at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN. From an active duty military perspective, the school in general is very accommodating to the military community and offers ample opportunities for Soldiers and their Families to continue their education. The school offers multiple online and night courses which are great for a working student or in my case a working mom. The course work, while challenging, was manageable and meaningful. I am proud to say I am an Austin Peay Alumni and encourage everyone considering furthering their education to go for it.

Degree: Communications
Graduation Year: 2015

I am very grateful for the opportunity to achieve my Masters degree from Austin Peay State University. The ability to take my courses online while working full-time in a town over four hours away from campus is wonderful, and it allows me to start my career whilst achieving my educational goals. The program itself is proving very useful in the business world. I have already learned valuable things about the communication industry, and I have been exposed to very different teaching styles. Course material and topics always seem relevant to the communication industry and are current in nature. The only downside of this graduate program is that there are so many different professors--it is hard to establish a relationship with them beyond the scope of their particular course. They are all very qualified and intelligent, but it is hard to stay in communication with them after your particular course ends, making academic mentorship difficult.

Degree: Music
Graduation Year: 2014

Pros: The faculty here are outstanding. Everyone is very knowledgeable and experienced in their field, and are easily available for extra guidance. The department is small which makes student/professor relationships more personal, and also opens up extra opportunities for those who seek them out. Cons: Also because the department is small, there is a lack of competitiveness within the department and it becomes easy to start coasting. Grad students need to be self-motivated to be successful.

Degree: Performing Arts
Graduation Year: 2015

Though not a Tier 1-ranked school or a well-known music school/department, the graduate education I have received thus far at APSU has been enlightening, enjoyable, and fulfilling. The faculty I have had the pleasure to work with has helped me in some way to grow as a musician and vocalist and are always available for help, even when it's (mildly) inconvenient. There have also been numerous performance, masterclass, and seminar opportunities which have furthered my growth as a performer. As for areas of improvement, the department could use better practice room facilities (especially the pianos--many of the pianos in the practice rooms and classrooms are abysmal). A more rigorous undergraduate audition process would also allow the program to grow faster and ensure that incoming music majors are serious about their work and talented. Overall, I'm happy with my time at APSU and look forward to finishing my master's degree there.

Degree: Communications
Graduation Year: 2011

APSU's Corporate Communication online graduate is a great combination of theory and practical application. We studied the psychology behind marketing and communication techniques, but also projects involving real businesses and communication plans. The program is very convenient with most classes available online. The professors are very accessible.

Degree: Social Sciences
Graduation Year: 2014

Like any graduate program, it has its share of work and effort that is required out from every student. What I like the most about this particular program is that the faculty understand the workload that is place upon us, and they their part to help ease the load from time to time. For example, with the end of the semester (and the due dates of final projects) vastly approaching, one of my professors, rather than have us meet for class, gave us a short online assignment to submit and allowed us that day to get a break. Knowing that our professors understand our individual situations and do their best to make our matriculation successful is a highlight of my own journey as a graduate student. My professors show genuine concern for each of us and make themselves available to us for help.

Degree: Liberal Arts
Graduation Year: 2013

My overall experience has been a very positive one. My only complaint is that financial aid did not always post scholarships when they said would be the post date, but I always received the funds.

All of the professors are very helpful and knowledgable about the course material. The work is challenging and thought provoking. My only criticism of the school is a lack of up to date technological resourses.
