"I had a great experience at Barry. It served its purpose and I had 10 interviews for dental school and 3 acceptances."

"I feel that it was to my advantage to graduate with my Bachelors in Science because it helped prepare me for the qualifications needed for medical school. However, there are not many jobs that are looking for someone with a Bachelors in Science. As far as the actual program, it was great to have a one on one interaction with the professors. The faculty as well as the professors are awesome. They are all very helpful, and they will help guide you in the right direction. I cannot think of one disadvantage for having gone to Barry."

"While the professors at Barry are extremely helpful and forthright, the financial aid offices, student services, and other departments lack in continuity."

"I was a part of a cohort program, and I often felt disconnected from the activities of the university. However, the class times were convenient as I work as a teacher during the day."

"I was attracted to Barry University's Masters in Photography Program because of the facilities offered as well as the competency of the faculty. Barry still offers a color darkroom and the possibility of exploring alternative processes. The professors put a high value on understanding classical photographic processes as well as digital and that was really important to me as an artist. There is also a varied teaching style amongst the professors, so that no student can say they don't have a professor they like and that inspires/motivates them. The only drawback to Barry is its cost for graduate students and lack of scholarship aid. I think that Barry should make a concerted effort to offer at least some kind of scholarship money to graduate students. If they do this, then they will be one of the last, best, photography schools in the country!"

"My personal experience at Barry University has been very good. The university if very close to my house. This is very convenient since I have a family and work full-time as well as doing graduate program. I can only think of two cons of the graduate program: 1) expensive (am currently taking loans to pay for tuition), and 2) professors concentrate on reading from power points than actually teaching, but they did warn us that this is a self-guided program with lots of self-studying. Other than that, professors are very approachable and are willing to help. The workload is manageable for working adults, which is also great. Overall, am having a good experience."

"My experience thus far in the biomedical science program at Barry University is by far one of the most rewarding experiences I have had during my educational journey. Upon my arrival to orientation my flight was late coming in and I missed orientation. I was concerned that I would not be able to start the program due to me running late. But when I got to campus the staff members there were extremely nice and helpful in getting me settled in and caught up on what I missed during orientation. The staff personally took me over to meet my advisor and get my schedule set up for the upcoming semester. Once I saw the financial load of my courses I explained to my advisor on the spot that I needed to drop one of my classes to make sure I could afford to pay for school with my financial aid... my advisor was VERY understanding and restructured my schedule right there on the spot that was conducive to my finances in allowing me to still pay for school and be able to live and support myself off my financial aid. The courses offered for the program prepare you for dental and medical school (depending no your academic track). The program is there to help you get to the next phase of your education which for most students is dental school or medical school. The course are not easy but they are not hard either as long as you apply yourself. There are a lot of resources available in order to assist you in being successful in the program. The professors are accessible at your disposal outside of their office hours. They are good at responding back to emails, answering phone call, etc. The cons to the program are not being able to have a full gross anatomy course due to the lack of cadavers available for the program. But there is a head neck anatomy portion to the course which is great for dental bound students. The location of the program is not on the main campus so you don't have access to go the library at the satellite campus; so most students have to leave the satellite campus and go elsewhere to study if you don't want to study in the study rooms they provide. There is no computer lab on the satellite campus so we are not able to print unless we go to the main campus (hopefully that will change soon). The main campus is about 20 minutes away so most students go over to NOVA library to study which isn't too far. But overall the study rooms they provide do suffice and are quiet areas to study just in case you are not able to go to NOVA or the main campus. Overall I am very happy with the program and look forward to an awesome future in dental school."

"It's a relatively small program, which makes it easy to get in touch with the professors, who have been very helpful so far. They seem to put a good amount of emphasis on our future prospects (taking standardized tests, applying, interviewing, etc.), something I didn't experience much in undergrad. The area is much nicer than the Barry main campus, although it is a little more expensive to live in because of that."

"Barry University is awesome! My experience there was very positive. I learned a lot of pertinent information about the field of reading. I believe the program has fully prepared me to be a successful Reading Coach/Specialist. My professors were very understanding and knowledgeable of the information provided. I attended the cohort in West Palm Beach, and it was very convenient as far as traveling. I was able to maintain a 4.0 the entire duration of the program and that's while I was a full-time mother and teacher. It was very difficult but definitely worth it. I recently graduated with my master's degree and would like the world to know that I am Barry proud. I would recommend this University to anyone seeking to gain a higher education."

"The biomedical sciences program at Barry University is quite expensive since it is a private school. The classes offered are also in one building which is not very large. Besides those cons, I feel the professors of the BMS program truly care about your success. Unlike my undergrad experience at a university of 50,000 people, the class sizes are smaller and allow for more interaction. The program is geared towards preparing students for professional schools and offers the help necessary to do well on the MCAT and DAT. It also offers volunteering and networking opportunities. The program is full of diverse people from undergraduate schools all over the country and most are very friendly. The program is intense but I feel it prepares you for a fast paced curriculum like that of a professional school."

"The professors, staff and administrators all are there to not only facilitate student learning but are there to assist the students along the way. Most professors post office hours as a requirement, the professors at Barry School of Law are actually encouraging and happy to assist."

"One of the benefits is that the classess are only once at week which is great for students who also work full time. One of the problems that I have with the school is the location, which is not around a great neighborhood and the location is pretty far from my house."

"I am new to the school and still learning the "ins and outs". So far the faculty and staff seem to be pretty amazing. They all are so supportive and resourceful. Of course Barry is a private institution so the cost of tuition is very high but I must say you do get a lot more advantages that you normally won't get at a public school. I am happy with the program and looking forward to graduation !"
