Degree: Teaching
Graduation Year: 2013

I started at Bowie State because I wanted to attend an HBCU. Bowie State was not far from where I lived and it had a good reputation. I felt like I needed to pursue a higher degree and looked at a few different schools. I choose Bowie State because I heard that they had a good program for education. They didnt let me down. The course was rigorous, the teachers were fair and the experience was great. The professors were knowledgeable about what we would expect and experience in the classroom. I was fortunate enough to work provisionally while I was enrolled in the program and the insight and knowledge that I gained from my instructors really made the difference in my early years in the classroom. When I had issues in the classroom I had a wealth of resources to rely on for advice and assistance. The cohorts at Bowie State were helpful in making my transition from Corporate America to teaching seamless.

Degree: Business
Graduation Year: 2013

Bowie State University is amazing overall. The school pride is there as well the support from your peers. Outside of the curriculum, I learned vital life lessons about what it means to be a woman of color in the corporate world. As I continue my education and move forward in my career, I will always credit my success to Bowie State.

Degree: Biology
Graduation Year: 2011

The campus is small and you can get 1 on 1 time with the professors. However the natural science department needs more funding. Great for business, education, or communication majors.

Degree: Communications
Graduation Year: 2017

Bowie State University's is wonderful! I have a communications undergrad degree from Howard University, and the instruction I received from Bowie State really increased my understanding in communications! I would recommend the program for anyone looking for a very structured and supportive Masters Degree program in the Maryland area. Highly recommended!!

Degree: Counseling
Graduation Year: 2016

The courses in the program are excellent and have prepared me to become a Counselor, however the faculty are extremely difficult to contact and are not very accessible to students. The comprehensive exam does not prepare you take the exam for licensure.

Degree: Public Administration
Graduation Year: 2016

The pros of MPA program at Bowie State is that the classes are small so that you have access to the professor. Also, the classes are held in the evening which benefits working adults. The MPA program curriculum is applicable to the career field of choice.
