Degree: Business
Graduation Year: 2011

Bowie State University's business school has the most dedicated and supportive business professors. Not only are the professors knowledgeable of the material but, their commitment to ensuring that their students are able to grasp the concepts and ideas is what separates BSU from the rest. However, I feel that Bowie State University should improve it's overall career support for their alumni students.

Degree: Public Policy
Graduation Year: 2015

The pros are definitely the knowledge and availability of the staff. The professors and advisers are kind, knowledgeable, experienced, and ready and willing to help their students. The cons is that because it is a smaller institution, there are not many graduate level courses available during winter and summer sessions, and there are not many, if any, online courses available for graduate students. The upside to this is that BSU is working on making hybrid classes for graduate students.

Degree: Computer Science
Graduation Year: 2015

The computer science graduate program at Bowie State University is great. I love the classes they are challenging and aggressive. I just wish that there was more financial aid available for graduate students.

Degree: Early Childhood Education
Graduation Year: 2017

What I feel the pros are of going into Early Childhood Education filed is there are plenty of job opportunities you can choose from . You are not limited to one. I have heard that getting into the Early childhood program is not as competitive as nursing or any other program would be. Another pro is choosing a career that you really have a desire to work in for the rest of your life. A con is picking a particular filed just because you want to do what your friend is doing and stay with him/her forever. Then you wind up hating your job and being stuck in a predicament. Just keep in mind that everyday there is a challenge, being able to meet them is all up to how you handle the pressure.

Degree: School Counseling
Graduation Year: 2014

Since my entrance into Bowie State University in Fall 2010, I feel good knowing that I made the right decision to complete my graduate studies here. The graduate professors really care about your progress and making sure you are learning to be successful for future endeavors. They are patient and really push for excellence beyond the classroom. One con would be the financial Aid process. There needs to be more structure about streamlining before and after each semester. Overall, I am very happy with my decision of attending Bowie State Universtiy, and all the opportunities that have come my way because of it.

Degree: Education
Graduation Year: 2015

Bowie State University Mental Health graduate program is a very competitive program that has many pros, a major one being that counseling professionals are hands on in the learning process, effective and research founded in the learning process. Their is a direct correlation with education and mental health counseling. I am now learning the legal and ethics proportion of counseling, being that ASA has many bylaws that continuous learning cycle in the counseling field. A con of this mental health program at Bowie State to some is the length of this program. Most masters programs are 1-2 years, this program is a 3 year program with 1,000 hours of internship and practicum. But being that most may consider this con a deal breaker, I see it as a major strength for those who are entering a new career.

Staff and faculty are supportive and helpful. Very much like a family environment.

Degree: Communications
Graduation Year: 2013

The pros of this program are that the classes are small and you can receive the assistance you need if you are having difficulty with your course work or load. The cons are that if you don't finish in the allotted time or miss a semester you have to reapply to the program. There is no tuition grace period if you finish early in the semester as other universities. Some universities refund your tuition if you finish within a specified time at the beginning of the semester.
