Capella is an awesome school. I earned my PhD in Human Services. The instructors are very knowledgeable and go the extra mile to ensure you get a quality education. The dissertation process was challenging at times; however, the mentor I was assigned was great with keeping me focus and on track. My research was on dementia and I want to get a degree in Gerontology to pursue a career as a Gerontologist and continue to do research early detection of cognitive impairment. The only con I would have is that I wish I was told to do a minor study in Gerontology while i was working on my doctorate.

The cost of the graduate program is high when compared to other universities.

It is great doing a program online because you can work online and you never have to sit in a classroom listening to a professor lecture. A negative is there is no office that you can physically go and talk with a professor.

Degree: Counseling
Graduation Year: 2018

Making the decision to go back to school after 20 years was not easy. However, after reviewing the reputation and quality of education at Capella, I had no doubt of my return. The online course room is very easy to navigate, the professors are knowledgeable, and the resources are inexhaustible! The only cons are that there is not enough time to explore the vast amount of resources and the connection inherent to real classrooms is lost.

Degree: Public Administration
Graduation Year: 2017

The pros of this platform is that you get the freedom to work around your other responsibilities in life without interference. This way is more conducive with the learning process for myself, because I do not feel overwhelmed or rushed. The cons are that the curriculum is average, and I feel as though I am still an undergraduate opposed to a doctoral student. Many of the classes I have had already in my Master's program, and I am not building upon that knowledge to grow. I feel as though I am staying stagnant in this program.

Degree: Psychology
Graduation Year: 2018

I am a new student at Capella University. I am pursuing a Masters Degree in Psychology and so far have found that the course are going to be ones that will help me to further my career. As a single mom, having support from instructors and other students will help me to keep my grades up and to graduate on time.

Many of the areas on the scale above cannot be assessed. The program is fantastic! I get to take classes at my own pace. The knowledge that I am gaining is immediately applicable to my current professional position. Instructors are encouraging and accessible.

Degree: Business
Graduation Year: 2016

I love the discussions with my peers who are in various fields but have something to bring to the table regardless of the subject. I think the professors are good at providing real life experience and examples to better help us students understand what is being discussed.
