Capella is a for profit university that tries hard to care and provide value to its students but as with most online colleges the true value depends on the students ability to research and study. The professors are part time and the classes are templates used over and over again without much auditing of the information provided. Often you will find old outdated information in class links or assignments. While it is the duty of the professor to audit the course prior to starting, this seems to not happen or information is missed consistently. A lot of the times instructions are confusing and assignments are redundant. It seems as if you write papers on the same topics over and over again repeating information and unless you are diligent as a student to research the topic in depth, the amount of true learning can be minimal. If you are seeking a certificate at a masters level from a regionally accredited university, then Capella is by far the most reasonably priced and easiest university to obtain that degree. Expect to have minimal contact with your professors and classmates as they are scattered across multiple time zones. If you are diligent and do the bare minimum you will receive 100% most of the time. Rarely do you get a professor that is a stickler on grading. Majority of the time it seems, if you meet the minimum topics, pages, and assignment requirements you get a 100%, it doesn't matter if you write 100 page papers or 3 page papers you will get 100% if you discuss the topics required.

Degree: School Counseling
Graduation Year: 2019

I've enjoyed my time thus far at Capella University. The flexibility it provides is exactly what I need at this time in my life. Professors are helpful and will to work with you. I feel the downfall of an online education is that yu only get out of it what you put into it as no one is there to force you to learn more. You must be dedicated to your education to succeed and make worth your education in online learning.

Degree: Psychology
Graduation Year: 2017

I am currently working towards my Masters Degree in Industrial and organizational Psychology. I have found the classes to be challenging, but not overwhelming. I like the detailed feedback I have received from my professor, and my counselor or course tutor have been very helpful. Like any online program it is up to the individual to manage their time and workload effectively.

Degree: Counseling Psychology
Graduation Year: 2004

At the time I studied at Capella University, it was an excellent program -- other than that it's Psychology degree was not APA accredited. This has caused me problems, as employment in many areas and states is closed to those without APA accredited degrees. I am not sure about the quality of the education currently being provided by Capella, as it appears they have significantly reduced their library resources and staffing in some areas. I would recommend that anyone considering Capella University at this time be very careful and check it out thoroughly before enrolling.

Degree: Nursing
Graduation Year: 2020

I am currently still still in school for my MSN. I have 3 kids and was very scared to do this on line course. Capella University has a very challenging curriculum that has showed me I am up to the challenge. I am one year in and still holding a 4.0 GPA. It just proves that if you want to achieve something you just have to put your mind to it. The staff is very helpful and challenges the students on a daily basis.

Capella University is a great online university offering degrees for bachelor's, master's, and doctorate programs. Each class is relatively small, allowing students to communicate in meaningful and close-knit ways with their professors and other students.

Great school with outstanding instructors. Graduate program taught me more than I could have ever imagined through the use of course discussion boards. Increased writing skills ten fold. I have no worries on fitting in with other executive leader caliber personnel.

I have greatly enjoyed my experience thus far. The admission process was a breeze and you are paired with someone from the start that will help you throughout your program. Working online, at your own pace were must haves for me. Added bonus, non clinical course progression and relatively short program duration...win-win!

Capella University is an accredited Online university that serves adults who are currently in a career, looking to change careers, and or earn a degree while engaged in general life tasks. As a Capella Alumni and current graduate student, I personally can attest to the quality of education I have received both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The coursework required is both rigorous and intense which gives students real insight into the career they are looking to enter upon graduation. My degree from Capella University assisted in providing me a 30% raise in my current job and has made me more competitive in my prospective field. The school offered career counseling as well which prepared me for interviews, directed me towards job leads, and even provided three official transcripts to use when applying for jobs. I am very glad that I enrolled and completed my undergraduate program at Capella and am even more excited that I have a year and half before I am finished my graduate degree. I highly recommend Capella University to those looking for a quality online education.
