"John Jay has a great graduate program. The resources they provide graduate students like classes, graduate computer lab and reserved seatings are horrible. I believe if graduate students are paying a great amount of tuition they shoud be able to hold classes in the " New building" and give us a better computer lab and better seats. We pay for education but also for better amenities."

"There is a real diverse group of students as well as professors. You get a feeling outside of your specified major, which enhances the learning process and the networking opportunities are awesome."

"John Jay provides excellent value for your money. The staff was experienced, knowledgeable, and accessible. The workload was fair and reasonable for an MPA level program. John Jay hosts numerous networking and career placement events and workshops on campus and does an excellent job notifying the students of these events. I highly recommend the program."

"I feel this MPA program benefited me by grounding my service with a better understanding of governmental policies, organizational theories, human nature, and research methodologies. It has allowed me to leverage my professional work experience through the lens of these studies, improving my ability to understand a situation, adapt, communicate and connect with people. "The program-specific classes are ideal, however the number of required courses leaves very little room for electives that may aid in specialization. Moreover, there is basically no opportunity for financial aid for international students, whose employment is already limited by being on a student visa."

"Pros - program specific classes focused on forensic psychology Cons- high level of inaccessibility for international students. SSN is required for identification and causes problems for non-Americans. Less opportunity for financial aid with double the costs in tuition."

"The administration is striving to make this a more academically competitive program, and rightly so, as the quality of the faculty is quite good. There are rampant problems with the administrative bureaucracy which can take your entire academic career to successfully navigate."

"So far my experience with the Forensic Science faculty and student body has been very positive. Your peers are there to help as long as you ask and faculty members are more than willing to provide advice and counseling. I should have done my Undergraduate degree at CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice!!"

"The program offer great opportunities to meet and interact with professors and provides exposure to many areas of psychology to help focus your goals but offer very little in the way of assistance in obtaining internships. The program has a very DIY feel but if you have the time to commit to figuring out your options, you can really be significantly impacted by professors and course work."

"The amount of time suggested to complete your Doctoral Dissertation is unattainable for many doctoral students. I believe the writing process (proposal) should begin MUCH earlier than Year 3. With course work, comp exams, and teaching obligations, our time is limited and we focus less on the final product. When the time comes to start the dissertation process, our stipends and fellowships expire, which creates more stress and anxiety. I have been honored to be part of John Jay's Graduate Program since the day I was accepted. Despite little hiccups along the way, I believe John Jay does its best to accommodate students and faculty and address/remedy any issue brought to attention."

"The pros to the Forensic Science Graduate program at John Jay College are that the classes are small, granting the students improved access to the professors. Also, the professors who teach the courses are well-known and very accomplished in their prospective fields. The cons are that the graduate program is very similar to the undergraduate Forensic Science program. There should be a focus on what is actually done in a forensic laboratory along with a didactic teaching of the theory behind forensic science. Also, much of what is taught in the Criminalistics track is outdated. There should be an introduction to automated instrumentation and modern forensic science procedures."

"Tell us about your college experience.Even though I wish I had went away to school, I did enjoy John Jay College! I joined clubs and became an active student So my experience was great and fulfilling.Would you get the same degree if you could start over?Yes I would because I love what I learned about which is the psyche of Adolescent Offenders. Only thing I would change is that I would have done the 5year program they offered so I could get my Masters and Bachelors in 5yrs.What advice can you offer other students?I found that I performed better in school when I didnt have a job. My senior year i focused strictly on school work and I had and A in ever class! and was able to spread out my classes so i have breaks in between to study or not be as stressed during mid terms and finals. So my advice is if you can afford it, try to stay home with your patents as long as possible and just focus on your classes so you can perform to the best of your ability!"
