New Mexico State University is a wonderful school for a multitude of reasons. The academic program is tough and rigorous, and I think it does an excellent job of simulating the experience of being a teaching and producing artist in the real world after graduation. There are many opportunities for working in a gallery, as a teacher, and as a tech or administrative assistant, giving the student a wide range of potential work experience within the safety of a supervised program. Students can try on different roles with a lot of professional mentoring from the faculty. The community element is also very important. You are not just another student, but are treated almost as an equal with the staff and faculty. Your feedback and participation is valued and the people your are in the program with genuinely care about you and your well being as you move through the difficulties of the program. I came to this school as a cancer survivor with many other co-morbid chronic diseases, not knowing if I was going to be able to compete or fully participate in the program. The support I have received both professionally and emotionally from students, staff, and faculty has made my transition back into academia after almost ten years away a lot easier and has given me the confidence that I will be able to compete professionally when I graduate. I would recommend this school to anyone seeking an MFA and looking for a fully supportive community of like minded individuals.

Take advantage of all the opportunities. Choose a program that allows for internships, as they will give you some of the most valuable part of your education. Internships give you the opportunity to apply all you have learned in a safe environment.

New Mexico State University is one of the best institute I have ever attended. Faculty and staff is really supporting for graduate students and I bet also for undergraduates. Here, we have most of the facilities and equipment to carry out advance level experiments. NMSU is all about discovery and I glad I chose this university for my graduate studies. I would highly recommend NMSU to every one, If they really want to succeed in their future endeavors.

I am very happy with my course of study. The classes seem very applicable to my future career goals. The professors are very supportive and easy to talk to. It is easy to work with professors in other programs. The campus family housing is great and the cost is good. I like the campus and the surrounding community.

Great university has a lot of security and weekly updates and email alerts. They are really concerned about your safety at your university. The campus has bus service and is conveniently located near the highway. They have a wide variety of art courses.

Degree: Curriculum & Instruction
Graduation Year: 2020

The College of Education has excellent faculty and plenty of online course options. They have an online degree option. The faculty are involved in research in the local schools and involve grad students in their research projects. The faculty challenge students and are friendly at the same time. The only con is that they currently do not have a certificate program for teaching TESOL, only a full degree program. More certificate programs would improve the program.
