Degree: School Counseling
Graduation Year: 2015

I loved my program and professors. They were very knowledgeable and up to date on current trends. In term of school counseling, however, I wish there had been more specialized courses for that field. I believe they have added more now, though. The program was affordable and accredited. Also, the staff really was helpful in walking up through and helping with the licensing and certification processes.

Excellent, underrated school. They prepare you for the real world, not just theory. They also respect you as a real person with a complex life.

Degree: MBA in Accounting
Graduation Year: 2014

Northeastern University was one of my top choices for the Master's in Accounting Program. The program is 8 months long and is intensive. During the summer months the classes are three days a week for 8 hrs. Although it was an intensive program, the teachers prepare you to sit for the CPA and advise you on your future career and what to expect. All the teachers have worked at the big 4 and are extremely knowledgeable in their field.

Degree: Elementary Education
Graduation Year: 2019

I am in the Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T) in Language Arts: Elementary Education program. This program is for students with a B.A. in a field other than teaching but wants to pursue a teaching career. When I complete the program, I would have a K-9 licensure, a Masters degree, and a middle school endorsement.

Degree: Counseling
Graduation Year: 2017

NEIU is great, and the counselor education program is outstanding. The curriculum and expectations are rigorous, which prepares graduates to be effective helpers and counselors. The diversity of my classmates and professors increased my multicultural skills as a counselor. The best part? I didn't go into debt by tens of thousands of dollars, as NEIU is the most affordable option for a counseling MA in Illinois. Please don't let the low cost (and required GRE) stop you from applying. It is a rigorous program that encourages personal growth and self-reflection. I feel ready to be a clinical mental health counselor after studying here. Oh, and it's a CACREP program, which allows for more portability between states!

Degree: Clinical Psychology
Graduation Year: 2018

After carefully researching universities in the Chicago area, the M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northeastern Illinois University emerged as my top choice. The program accreditation by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and its capability of fulfilling the educational requirements for the two levels of licensure as professional counselors in the State of Illinois: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) played an important role in my decision. The graduate program fulfilled my expectations and has been provided me with support and in-depth learning experiences that will surely enable me to make a difference in such a challenging field.

Northeastern University offered a great online Master of Education program that fit my schedule and met the same standard and rigor of any other Graduate level program. The class of professors and supporting administrators outside of the classroom offer a large amount of experience in providing services to students.

Degree: Architecture
Graduation Year: 1997

Northeastern Illinois University is an excellent school, providing knowledgeable and caring administrative staff, excellent instructors, and a diverse student population which encouraged a variety of perspectives which led to an exciting classroom experience. The Inner City Studies program included a historical perspective on the background and development of the individuals and groups living in urban areas. The program provided coursework, textbooks, and additional readings which allowed the student to explore family issues, political agendas, and the impact of crime; all major contributors to the current state of the inner city. The program was especially successful as it encouraged the adult students to explore research in individual areas of interest, while facilitating group learning.
