Degree: Social Work
Graduation Year: 2015

I enjoyed the atmosphere and the student experience. The course work was rigorous but prepared me for the work place. It was definitely a true HBCU experience.

Degree: Criminal Justice
Graduation Year: 2009

Norfolk State University is a family oriented university that makes sure that each student receives the best education and assistance needed. I thoroughly enjoyed attending class, working with professors and interacting with students of different cultures. Each course not only prepared me for working in the field of Criminal Justice, but it also prepared me for the ever changing society we live in today. I would refer my university to others without a doubt and encourage them to attend an awesome holistic university.

Attending Norfolk state University has been great!!. This university is ideal for mothers that wish to have their children on campus with them. I'm currently a single mother of 2 young sons and having them with me at school for a low price is awesome.

Degree: School Counseling
Graduation Year: 2018

I am currently pursuing my Masters Degree in Professional School Counseling from Norfolk State University. The professors make sure to take the time you need to assist you with your understanding of the curriculum. I also received my Bachelors Degree in Social Work from Norfolk State University as well. I can honestly say that the impact this school has had on my career path has been nothing short of beneficial.

Degree: Social Work
Graduation Year: 2012

I enjoyed the experience of attending an HBCU but did not find the academics at this school overly stimulating. As a nontraditional student, I really enjoyed that many of the other students were also nontraditional.

Degree: Counseling
Graduation Year: 2014

I enjoyed the closeness of my graduate class. We teamed up to study and to make sure we understood the content covered. The school could do better in helping to create better writers but otherwise, I enjoyed my time there.

Degree: School Counseling
Graduation Year: 2015

NSU has a great faulty that are concerned with the students best interests. The faulty is always readily available to help and genuinely want their student's to greatly succeed and become knowledgeable in every aspect of their career plans. The school provides a challenging but achievable curriculum for students wishing to work in schools as counselors. NSU also has multiple options for grad programs in the education field and other fields as well. NSU staff is always looking to help students but seems to falls short in providing scholarships and aid to grad students who really need the assistance due to the high demand of undergrads and their need for scholarship opportunities.

Overall my experience at Norfolk State University was great. I feared that having my majority of my classes online would be a problem but NSU faculty were very accommodating.

Degree: Public Policy
Graduation Year: 2012

Norfolk State has a very good Social Work program that gives a overall view of the field through technology, in-class learning, research, and field practicum. However, the financial aid department is a major stressor for many students. Overall, the Unversity is a great place to learn, experience and broaden your horizons both academically and personally.
