"I was pleased with the accounting program especially the professors. The program taught me subjects that were relevant to the cpa exam, which I felt was very useful. Many of the professors are very supportive and have a lot of knowledge to share."

"Very affordable living in the city and relatively cheap tuition costs. The faculty at my department are very diverse with varied life experiences that enhances the perspectives presented. The faculty is also not biased and present information in a straight forward and non ideological manner."

"The mechanical engineering program is well structured, the classes expand on the topics covered on undergraduate courses. Faculty is amiable and willing to answer all questions; however some of the professors teaching have no real idea on how to teach (they are very knowledgeable but just don't know how to explain themselves). The campus is nice and living near is not as expensive as in other universities. Student population is pretty homogeneous and pretty much everyone speaks Spanish, making it a really nice place to study if English is your second language."

"The program is full of opportunity and gives a lot of flexibility to the student in to gear their degree towards whatever career path they'd like to follow. The staff and faculty provide much support and try to ensure that the student will receive the proper and adequate compensation, and if possible, tuition support. I only wish that the labs were a bit more up to date. Most of the environmental engineering (more specifically water quality/treatment) labs are great, but I wish the hydraulics and hydrology lab served more research based experiments, as opposed to mainly educational."

"I believe the program counts with very knowledgeable professors that are willing to hear students´ opinions and adapt to our learning necessities. I have enjoyed very much my graduate courses so far, even more than my undergraduate courses, since they are challenging and interesting."

"The Faculty support is great, the structure is solid, the campus is nice, has unique architecture, the only con i can think of is that system engineering program is still developing, but provide and overall understanding of the fundamentals"

"As a masters student at UTEP department of sociology and anthropology you get the attention that is usually given to PHD students. I am in my first semester and already have a paper under review for publishing as well as a research grant in the works. My peers have been published on an average of 3 or 4 times by the time they graduate and are getting accepted to some of the top PHD programs in the country."

"UTEP achieves its goal of both being accessible and providing quality, rigorous coursework. I was gladly welcomed to this grad school program, where other schools denied me access even after meeting their claimed qualifications. Now that I am here, I am being held to a very high standard of academic quality--some other programs do not require the level of classes that UTEP requires of its undergrads & graduate students. I am a full-time student in a program designed for full-time workers/part-time students. The only real con to my program is that classes are night-school only, so I don't have as many employment/schedule opportunities as full-time undergrads or grad students in other programs."

"The graduate program at the University of Texas at El Paso has a well standing. I am a first year student and have not been exposed to very much, but have been on campus for four years during undergraduate. The faculty and staff are always open to questions, and often invite great speakers for our weekly seminar talk. Unfortunately, the program lacks an outside student interactive community. I wouldn't mind getting to know my fellow classmates outside of class, but this is all in all minor."

"The quality of your research here truly depends on the mentor chosen to work with. I chose one that is passionate and dedicated to his students so my experience in the masters program has so far been a great one. However, there are several mentors receiving little funding so I would do my research on the faculty before committing myself to one lab. The masters program requires 30 hours of class work out of their students however majority of graduates finish with more than 30. The campus is continually being modified and is currently being transformed into an all walking campus as a majority of inner parking has been removed. People here are friendly and predominately Hispanic. Although not necessary it definitely would be a bonus if any applicants or transfer students spoke Spanish. I overall believe the graduate program at UTEP is well put together and contains several enthusiastic and dedicated professors. I would definitely give my recommendation to any that are considering."

"The graduate program is convenient for me due to the fact my home life is based out of El Paso. The cons are that UTEP is still a tier 2 university. I hope that changes soon."

"The location and interaction with the local communities including military personnel and government agencies have created a program perfect for those who wish to work for the government. Unfortunately the prestige of the University may prove difficult for someone who is trying to gain higher office compared to someone who received their masters from say Harvard or George Washington."

"The speech-language pathology program at UTEP is an amazing program which emphasizes research as its foundation. The faculty is very involved and available for the students, and the on-campus practicum helps prepare the students for the following year when going off campus. The unique block scheduling allows for sufficient study time and amount of clinical hours as well. The only con for this program would be the old builiding in which our classes and clinic are located in. Overall this program is preparing me as a current graduate student to become a well rounded clinician and researcher through experience and course work."

"- Easy to get into graduate studies: Almost accepts everyone who applies, so personal development and peer competitiveness is questionable - Faculty members qualification is average but networking is lacking so overall below average - The few good things about the college: Can have a higher degree and low living expenses Overall, if you can completely self dependent and strong enough to get around yourself, this is the best school. But if you need help and take advantage of University reputation and need a high value job, this is not really the place."
