College is a very important part of emerging adulthood. College truly prepares you for what you will handle as an adult, both in your professional and personal lives. Take courses that challenge you...make you think. Take advantage of every opportunity offered...you won't get nearly as many as you will in college. Get involved, even if you live off campus...I really wish I had been more involved. Use the time to enjoy the last years of "being a kid."

It was a great school, but I mainly chose it because it was close to home.

Winthrop university's degree program was a very rigorous and expensive program. In the end it was worth it. The staff was always there to help and the class sizes are small enough that the professors can focus on each student as necessary. They also have an academic success center where students can get extra help if they need it. I learned how to push myself and manage my time. I ended up doing better than I ever thought I could.

I am happy to say that the education I am receiving at Winthrop University is stellar. I have had several conversations with passionate, intellectual educators and future educators. We have discussed our views on the current state of the American education system and our plans for our future classrooms. We have shared resources that have enhanced our learning and teaching experiences including texts, videos, and other multimedia. I believe that these conversations have helped me create a strong teaching philosophy for the greater good. The classes I have participated in have provided me with several strategies and resources to further my teaching ability. While I still have another year left in the program, I already feel confident and excited about teaching in the near future.

Degree: School Psychology
Graduation Year: 2019

The School Psychology program at Winthrop University is a rigorous program that is well worth the challenge. I would consider the program at Winthrop to be the best on the east coast. The professors expect a lot out of their students, but it brings out the best in each student. Winthrop's campus is full of beautiful architecture. The buildings have so much history to teach the students. The campus is large but all of the buildings are within a close radius of one another to make transitioning from classes easy. Overall, I would recommend this school time and time again to anyone who is looking to go to college.

Wonderful college. Beautiful campus. At the time that I waqs going to class, the MBA program was taught completely at night. It was designed so that students could continue to work at their full-time employment and get their education at the same time. Perfect for me.

Degree: Nutrition
Graduation Year: 2017

The summer of 2015, I was technically only home temporarily. I had already purchased a one-way ticket back to Madrid, to return to my teaching position as an English teacher. But something told me I couldn't return to Spain without first speaking with a graduate advisor at Winthrop; while I enjoyed traveling and living abroad, I had an unabated feeling that I needed to visit Winthrop when I returned. That intuitive feeling was right. After meeting with that graduate advisor, I felt inspired. Career opportunities in nutrition and dietetics are truly endless and she made me feel that way. The professors in the Human Nutrition Department are the backbone of this program, and their expertise shows. In the last five years, almost 100% of students who participated in their internship program passed their Registered Dietitian credentialing exams. This is definitely a major selling point. Winthrop in general is also a wonderful university. The education quality is top notch and the campus is located on a gorgeous, verdant, Southern campus located in Rock Hill, SC. I can also honestly say that the people in Rock Hill exhibit true Southern hospitality. I would highly recommend Winthrop University and I'm very excited to see where this education can take me!

Degree: Counseling Psychology
Graduation Year: 2016

I am currently enrolled in the Clinical Mental Health program at Winthrop University. The faculty members work hard to provide their students with excellent clinical training. We are granted with ample opportunity to practice our counseling skills through various internship sites. This program has no focus on research which is both a pro and and con. You are not required to complete a thesis.
