"UIC's social work graduate program is highly ranked in the nation - within the top 25 schools for social work. The history of the school and their work in the community is a strong one. The courses are very focused on social justice and serving the urban population which expected given it's location and the history of Jane Addam's Hull House. A few of the first year classes are taught by Ph.D. students which in my experience is more of a con than a pro, however, the second year classes are taught by very well qualified and experienced members of the field. Many of the faculty are also highly involved in current research which is definitely a positive quality."

"The University of Illinois system is amazing! I graduated from UIUC in May and recently started at UIC to pursue my Master's in Healthcare Administration. I commute to and from the school three nights a week and the availability of transportation to students is so good. Buses sometimes run late but for the most part it has never been an issue. After one week in my masters program I feel like I've already learned so much. I'm learning from the best; CEO's and administrators of hospitals in the area. The people working in this program really want to see the students to succeed which is always refreshing."

"Tell us about your college experience. It was a good fit because it was a large, diverse community.Would you get the same degree if you could start over?I would not choose a different focus, but I would choose a different major so I could have a different major that is more related to my focus. What advice can you offer other students?Always do community college first."

"I think the school does an excellent job making students feel valued and appreciated. The administration knows how important producing high-caliber students are and it wants its students to be happy. I know I am happy with UIC so far."

"Obviously, any MD program is tough but will prepare you to be a good doctor. Although it's not a top 10 MD program, U of I has a great reputation. The Urbana campus of U of I Medicine is a little-known gem. There is great community and opportunitites here in the Urbana campus."

"All admitted graduate students are funded, admittedly at a really low basis (survival), but it does good to the atmosphere. Faculty differ a lot, so your experience will depend on what you're trying to do."

"A top notch program that offers competition yet support between it's students, UICOM is the epitome of what a medical school program is supposed to be. While the Rockford and Chicago campuses are not in the most ideal of neighborhoods, the facilities utilized by each campus is absolutely spectacular and cutting edge."

"The pros of my graduate program is its nationwide prestige, quality of education, and affordability. The cons are mainly the need to add certain technological improvements and to encourage more cooperation between students."

"I am just starting this program, it has great access to the city and public transportation. It is a very high quality education, for the price of a public school vs. private. It isn't very safe to walk around by yourself or at night. I think UIC does a lot to try and address this issue, but really you have to be careful."

"Great set of faculty that are currently practicing in clinical or community settings. Professors are willing to work with students and most treat us as colleagues rather than students. I commute so the transportation is bad for me but for others that live on campus or can get there easily by train or bus its nice. The program is very competitive and you know that you are with some of the best students in the country"

"I feel very proud to be a graduate student at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I believe it will help me with my future endeavors in my field. The teachers I have had have been great and truly supportive. However, when I first started, navigating the program was quite difficult. I never received an orientation with information to guide me through things I needed to do, forms I needed to fill out, what classes I needed to take next, etc. A year into the program, I seemed to have figured most of it out with help from classmates."
